If we ignore the lights on the dashboard of our vehicle for long enough, we run the risk of feeling stress as we may have to spend time and money to get our vehicle fixed by a mechanic. As Cassandra explains in this third and last installment of her self care series, the same holds true if we ignore or mask the lights long enough on our own inner dashboard. To illustrate this, let’s say new sensations of discomfort arise in our body. We hear them whisper to us ever so often, but ignore or mask them in some way. Over time, the sensations begin to get a little louder until we hear them scream at us. Because we are usually in a lot of discomfort at that point, we decide to take action and go to our mechanic, the doctor. Another area in our inner dashboard we may ignore or mask is our emotions, as some of them can feel quite uncomfortable. However, by ignoring or masking our emotions, we run the risk of these uncomfortable emotions showing up in other areas of our life and potentially causing issues with our well-being and our relationships. Meditation is a great practice we can do on a daily basis to be in touch with our inner dashboard, as it gives us a time to stop and be with open awareness. Over time, we can learn to be aware of any lights going on whether we are meditating or not because we have learned to live mindfully. Whether a person meditates or not is up to each individual. Regardless, it is very important that we change our perspective and listen to what the lights are telling us. As Cassandra illustrates so beautifully in this three part self care series, when the lights on the vehicle go off, we usually take action. We need to do the same with our own inner dashboard because these lights are on for a reason: to help us. In this way, we should listen to what our emotions have to say and in the case of feeling uncomfortable sensations in our body, we should take some kind of action.
