This Zen story is about humility and finding what one needs. Zen has a rich tradition of telling stories so that the listener gathers their own understanding and then apply it to their own life.

Lovely & Inspiring
It shows everyone has a gift and a talent, and you need to look for that gift or talent whenever you meet someone, not matter their status, class, or appearance. Everyone is important in their own way, something we often overlook.

I love this. It points to how sacred and important everyone is.

Everyone matters
I learned to treat everyone I meet with respect, regardless of the status according to them by society. Every person from the most holy and prestigious,To The most humble, contributes to the world in their own way. Everyone has life experiences which deserve to be validated . Furthermore, everyone has learned lessons over the course of their lives . Consequently, it is possible to learn something from everyone we come in contact with provided we are willing to respect every person we meet without judgment.

I learned that I apparently don’t have a clue re: sleep stories for insomniacs! This is the 3rd story I have listened to on Aura and the 3rd one that has left me wondering why these lovely life lessons regarding peoples’ gifts, actions etc. that have huge affects on others are considered “sleep stories?” I’m not an expert in the field. However, I conducted research with my professor and wrote my MA thesis on experimental methods for treating insomnia (do as I say, not as I do 😉). Recently, I found some sleep stories to be helpful. I thought it was because of their general formula: start out with a nice reading voice and gradually change it to flat, inflection-free orator. The speed of the reading also gets slower as the story progresses. There were times it seemed like the reader was saying a word a minute. I’m sure it was not *that* slow, but that was how much slower the reading became. And I think that one of the most important things about the bedtime stories is that the information is not meant to be informative. I don’t think that I have come across any stories, other than the 3 here, that have been used for “teachable moments!” I’m not trying to sound harsh, although I’m afraid that I do. I have tried to edit it to not sound that way. I’m just very confused and very tired! I have just downloaded this app that has amazing reviews and in a couple of days, I am going to be charged for it and I am not sure if “we” have the same ideas regarding how to help people (me!) sleep better.
