"The Sprig of Rosemary" is a traditional folk tale rooted in the rich storytelling tradition of Catalonia, the vibrant region of northeastern Spain. This timeless story was collected and brought to English-speaking audiences by Scottish folklorist Andrew Lang, who included it in his beloved anthology "The Pink Fairy Book," published in 1897. Lang drew from a Spanish folklore collection published in Barcelona in 1885, and the tale was translated and retold as part of his famous Color Fairy Book series — twelve volumes that preserved folk and fairy tales from cultures around the world for generations to come.
