The quietness of breathing

Amazing Body
The body is amazing. The way it takes care of itself without needing us to consciously think/prompt it to. We live because our body allows us to. It breathes on its own, and we don’t have to stress about that. But when you take a moment to think about your breathing, you get a moment to realize what your body does for you. Your body literally keeps you alive.

Targeting Your Breath
So that when you are breathing you visualize body parts...works. It was amazing to me to be able to "send" my breath to specific places, and also quite refreshing!

Different breaths for different parts
Your breath can move from your stomach to the top of your head allowing you to now know there’s room to take a breath anywhere in your body.

In the car
I was riding in the car. I closed my eyes and I can feel the car move. It was a very strange feeling to open my eyes after just three min....you forget were you are.

Deepening
I like deep breathing and do it regularly, especially as I am falling asleep. 3 deep, slow breathes and I am out...zzz But with this session I was able to ‘feel into’ my body like I was the air going into my lungs. This helped me to relax. As I relaxed more, I could breath deeper which made me relax even more. When she said to breathe really deep I felt myself falling or being sucked into the vacuum my breath created. Once inside my body I was able to move around with my breath, very weird but kinda cool.

Day Three

Other body parts?
Breathing is something my body does; not much thought goes into it. But when I breathe a little deeper and exhale thru my mouth, I feel more aware and focused. The same is true of belly breathing, which I only do when I think about it. I don’t really understand how to move the breath to other body parts though. I don’t know what I’m supposed to feel.

Just Breathe
Breathing is a 24/7 kind of thing. We may not notice this natural habit throughout the busy day. If you take a moment and make time for you, you can focus on what it means to breathe. What it means to live mindfully and wholeheartedly. To realize that each breath is replenishing no only your physical well-being, but your mental and emotional health too.

Spectrum of Breath
This was such a good meditation for me today since I have been dealing with headache pain and nausea. When I paid attention to my natural breath, I realized how shallow it has been today. Redirecting my breath to other areas of my body actually felt good and reminded me of how I can help my brain refocus away from pain while nourishing the rest of me just by breathing differently. Thanks for the meditation, Lauren!🙏🏻

Breath is everything
Breathing brings oxygen to the body that it needs to do just about everything else effectively. Having the flu crud for a few weeks has made me appreciate this even more. Lungs needed help from antibiotics but I can help more by focusing on breathing and how it makes me feel a lot more

Imagination is key
With a little vision and imagination, you can really feel the breath travel all around the body, doing little things to make you feel a little better. Blessed are those who understand the power of the mindful breath.

Breathing
‘Life is not about the breathes you take but rather about the moments that take your breath away.’ True. But it’s also about the breaths you take. I can focus on my breathing and know when I’m anxious and that I can calm myself down with a few deep breaths. Or when I’m breathing deeply, I can feel that my entire body is relaxed, calm, and my mind is open. I love that we, have the ability to control our breathing. A self help method to help calm the busyness of the daily routines. Take a deep breath in, and now release it. See, progress already.

This morning we focused on different aspects of the breath. If we measured our day with breaths I wonder how many that would be?

Excellence
After scoring a perfect 100% on her Calculus final, thirteen year old Amélie received a small white envelope from her mathematics professor. Inside was a card with the following hand-written note... “Amélie, You had a great year in math in 2017/2018!! I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to teach you. In my career, I’ve taught a lot of wonderful kids, but there have been a handful that really stood out from the rest. How many? Call it 2<X<6. These students have been exceptionally bright, but also hard working, humble, giving, and bring a great attitude to class each and every day. Also, they’ve had a great sense of humor and willingness to help their fellow students. You are in that special group, no doubt about it! I wish you all the best. You’re going to achieve great things some day!” - Mr. B

Return
I learned that it’s always good to take time to yourself after a heated argument and just focus on your breathing rather then losing your mind and feeling like you’ve lost control of your whole body
