When you meditate, it is always helpful to have something to anchor your attention to. Usually, that is the breath. However, in this meditation, you will use the sounds in your environment as your attention anchor. This trains you to be more in tune with your senses, which can create a deeper sense of awareness in your everyday life. www.christina-mcmahon.com

Active listening
This session made me concentrate on sounds, thus quieting the mind traffic. I found this session amazingly beneficial! Loved it x

Called the listening out ...
Wonderful. Reminded me of William Stafford's exquisite poem 'Listening' - the last two lines of the first stanza reading: ' ... and every far sound called the listening out / into places where the rest of us had never been.' I recommend the entire poem, and this meditation. Lovely. Thank you.

Energy within yourself can only go so far and spread so thin. You can only juggle so many pins before your attention to all of them begin to slip away. Spend your time wisely and make sure that those around you value your time just as you value it. Don’t let anyone make you feel that you aren’t doing enough when you know you’re giving you’re all. And only give your all as long as your life isn’t suffering. Be strong and begin organizing your life in a way that you will be proud and secure. Don’t let little things rob you of your energy and especially don’t let your phone and social media take anything away from you and your quality of life. Be the passionate lady you know you are.

Focus
I can tune in to one dominant sound even if my mind makes it dominate between heart beat, fan, dj krush, breathing, and the voice of the moment in my ear buds.

Sounds Heart Awakening
I learned that even though there was a noisy clock in the room I could relax somewhat. I would prefer total quiet when I am relaxing so next time I will choose a place more quiet. It is good to take rest periods and relax.

Our relationship to Sounds...
Sounds play a significant role in our ability to go within. Sounds also play a significant role in how we handle or deal with our emotions. There are “songs” we hear that make us sad and there are “songs” we hear that make us happy. Music is nothing more than the sounds we hear.

Appreciation of sounds and using them as an anchor in the moment is a new concept for me. Helpful tool for this noisy and busy holiday season. Namaste 🙏🏻.

Noise
Tuning in the natural noises into my conscious and being okay with them is good! They will always be there. It’s finding peace in what you are in.
N
Nicole
Judgement
Things just are, things just be. Things like environmental noises don’t need to be rated or judged or liked or disliked by me. They just flow past and are. I’ll let that be. That gives my mind and heart a rest. Relax small child of the universe.

Really clever yet so simple
To embrace everyday sounds around me without judging them as either good or bad but simply observing them and using them to anchor me into the present.

Day 7
I learned that listening to the sounds around you can be comforting as well as assuring and calming. They help you to catalog and remind yourself that there are so many or so little things going on right now, but I should focus on the task at hand rather than getting distracted or thinking about the next task.

I felt so calm and relaxing. My whole body got lighter. I wasn’t nervous or as scared
You can listen to sounds to help you calm down and focus. This is a great tool to use when I feel down

Wind
I found it difficult to listen to the wind with a neutral mindset. All I can think about is having to go out in the cold, blustery wind. I maybe could love the sound if I got to stay home today!
C

Sounds
Even while being in NY with the sounds of traffic, sirens, and the hustle- I was able to embrace it while almost being so calm I could tune it out at the same time. I surprisingly felt relaxed even with all the background noise.

Symphony of sounds
It’s good to be reminded that it’s a gift to be able to hear the planes, trains and automobiles that constantly pass by my home. In fact, this was the first time that I actually thought of the sounds that the cars are making as analogous to my breathing as they come and go.

Day 45

Tick tock
Is it the sound of a clock or is it my life slipping away. Sounds of the physical or the spiritual , does time have a noise or are we so used to it that it’s all background hum. My soul sings, my heart thumps, my blood pounds through me, my voice quivers in the sound of life and yet it has its own sweet refrain. A word said in love, a gasp of joy and the quiet breath of awe so singular and yet harmonises in the orchestra which is life, make your music count.

At peace
The present can calm the anxiety of the future. The sounds in a room help to group you. Even your own body helps you. The breath is a powerful tool to help you focus on the now.

Chirping...
I found myself notice, but quickly unfocused from the passing cars and a nearby piece of heavy equipment (once I labeled it and let it go) only to have my ears be taken over by the orchestra of birds calling, chirping & squawking. I lost count at a dozen or so different calls, near, far and all around. There has been a Very noticeable increase in the number & types of birds around my house since my garage burned down a couple weeks ago. I like to think they are offering their songs & beauty as positive distractions from the obvious eyesore. Focusing on them this morning, my ears are telling me there are even more different kinds than I have notice with my eyes. I thank the Lord for this rainbow of birds after this firestorm (of opportunity). It’s going to turn out to be for my best long term good. New garage and new siding for the house, once we get thru all the demo & clean up. Just another way to help me stay in shape, (bend, lift, carry & throw). Free workouts with a bird orchestra accompany!! Just another few reasons why I am called “The Luckiest Man Alive!” ❤️☮️🍀

Chirping...
At first I heard the cars passing by in the distance and then a big digger digger playing in some dirt somewhere... once they were labeled they kinda faded away in importance and I started noticing the birds chirping. Not just a couple birds but a whole orchestra of them. Long calls and short tweets, high pitched quacks and lots of chatter beaks! I have notice since my garage burned down two weeks, how many more birds we have around. I think it might be part of Gods way of helping the healing process along. It seems to be working ... ❤️✌🏼🍀

The peaceful out doors sound reminded me of when I was appreciating the rivers flow and felt at peace. As I opened my eyes I remembered it’s just a memory and i am here now present and that’s all I’ll ever have. Now.

Pleasant 🙂
This was a very pleasant experience that made me smile. I used the sound function to create some soft music in the background and birds singing. This made it even more pleasant and I barely noticed the distance sound of cars, beyond that I heard nothing and just enjoyed three minutes of pleasant relaxation.

I felt like a different person. I felt like myself but more relaxed and open to the noises around me

Accepting...
My windows are open to allow the cool night air in, but it’s morning and traffic has started in the distance. So I allow the noises that usually are a distraction to just turn into sound waves and they pass right thru or around me with no problems. Huh, imagine that. Almost too simple... Brings to mind the old saying “what we resist, persists”, I did not resist or focus on the traffic today. I recognized it, accepted it and allowed it to pass on & it literally did. Pretty cool trick! ❤️☮️🍀

In the middle of the meditation my alarm went off. The stark contrast between the peaceful flow of water in the background and the blaring horn was startling. As is with life if we let the blaring horn of negativity build momentum it will shake us up and take away the peaceful alignment we have with Source. #OmShanti

Silence
Is often associated with loneliness or stillness. Tonight I refused to attach a label to a sound. Silence was just silence. My anxiety decreased. My comfort increased. I was able to focus and concentrate on the spoken word.

I really like this app, I find it very useful, it really helps me to get off of my thoughts and feelings... Because my life at this moment is not the best, sometimes my mind play tricks with me, and other days it's just anticipation thoughts and anxiety that strikes really hard... but I'm trying to give my best... Writing my feelings helps a lot.

It has been my intention to be more present and this mediation is another step. I loved the fact that we were reminded that sounds are all around us and we should not look upon them as an annoyance but a symphony and an anchor to keep us where we need to be... right here in the present

first time
my safe place was in front of my ex girlfriend's smile. I began to feel intense sadness and a longing to be happy again. it's been 7 months and I'm still in pain. however I felt a bubble of safety and warmth. her image became smoke and dissipated from my view. she is still there but for three minutes I was hopeful. hopeful that I could remember what it feels like to be happy.

The non shutting door🤫
As I was trying to mediate I couldn’t help but notice the sound of my door in my parents guest room as I have been staying here until my home is done being renovating on , I haven’t used aura until today an honestly I must say amazing way to start my day I needed this guidance 🖖🏽🧘🏼‍♀️✨💜

Sound meditation with too much sound
I realize that in three minutes it’s hard to get across your point as a meditation coach without filling up the entire space, but a sound meditation asking to concentrate on the sounds in your environment where the practitioner never stops talking and there is constant sound of waves and music kind of takes away from the point.

Sounds are like views
I learned to be attentive about the sounds around me and listen to all of them, even if I don’t like them, to give me a good position in my life. This is like views on the world, and I should listen to all the sounds around me and consider all of them before jumping to conclusions, which will give me a better view of the world.

People, situations, how to control these things that haven’t even happened can’t be influenced by my worrying. Slight awareness and tried to let the thought pass but often would get stuck.

I learned that my thoughts wander. And i can bring them back once I notice it. This particular meditation was both helpful and not. I appreciate focusing on surrounding sounds to ground in present environment but there wasn’t a clear end to the meditation so I found myself in a situation of wondering what I was supposed to be doing, having my thoughts wander, return to the sound, and then start over again wondering what to do next, how much longer, etc.
