Before we begin meditating, learn how to set yourself up and sit for success. The way you sit can make or break your meditation practice. When your spine is aligned, your breath flows more easily, your body stays relaxed yet alert, and you’re less likely to be distracted by aches and pains. Plus, a steady, grounded posture signals to your mind that it’s time to settle in and be still. Slouching, on the other hand, can make you feel sluggish, while too much tension can create unnecessary strain. In yoga, it is said that we also align our chakra energy centers which allow for prana (life force energy) to move through us more freely. Make sure your back is straight, shoulders relaxed, and hands resting comfortably.
