I found a simplistic pleasure in that. It's been 41 days since I started this journey. Today was a good day to be still. I find peace in stillness. When I'm anguished I become still in my faith, and steadfast in my beliefs. I try to instills in others, don't allow anyone or anything to steal your joy. 🙏🏾

I get very jittery when trying to stay still sometimes, so this exercise was interesting. Once I started focusing on the breathing and when I pause, it was a little easier to stop moving during the 3min since I wasn't thinking about me moving.

Stillness meditation
Once again my mind cannot be controlled. Although my body was still and stable my mind was alert to all the noises around me and the sensations around me. When the instructor said something about feeling the stillness of the surroundings my mind did it’s own thing and thought of objections to this as I have the fan on and I could picture it spinning therefore not being still haha. I feel the same as before the meditation if only a tiny bit more sedated (as I do these meditations right before I fall asleep).

I learned that being still allows me to actually grow. Instead of my energy being used to move & go, it can be redirected into new growth. Kind of like a tree... Think about it... they cannot move closer to a pond to get more water. But they grow longer roots to reach out to it. They cannot go to the store to get more food. Instead they grow taller and put out more branches with more leaves to gather more in. Each year they grow in girth and height without taking a single step. I think I want to be a tree when I grow up...

I had a hard time channeling stillness from within myself. I felt very anxious and it was distracting. I am more relaxed now than when I started though.

While I find myself able to sit still, my hands were restless, wanting to play with my hair, scratch my arm, and do anything and everything except to rest by my sides. My mind initially refused to be still as well; during the course of the meditation, I gently had to remind myself that being still was productive in its own way; an opportunity to truly check-in, an opportunity to fully rest. It’s hard to feel like I deserve this rest, that I deserve to take time to meditate when I can see the unchecked boxes of my to-do list. But I try, despite my mind’s arguments. I practice meditation to remind myself that rest is essential, a way to prevent burnout and an emotional breakdown. I practice sitting still, even when it’s hard, even when I’m annoyed that I am making myself do this. But I see things shift after a few minutes. I’m a little calmer, a bit more centered. I’m nicer to myself and I am reminded that my lungs have the ability to breathe deeply.

Letting go of thoughts and focusing on the way my body felt was a very calm and peaceful experience. Focusing on breath and the body experience brought calm stillness throughout my body. As I listened to this I really became aware of my breathing. Feeling the cold air from my room breezing in and out of my lips and past my tongue. My abdomen inflating and deflating with every passing moment. It was quite relaxing and got me in the right mood to fall asleep to.

When I wake up sometimes my thoughts start racing. I think of things left undone, things I want to do today, problems that need resolution and so many more. It's like a classroom of children all shouting at once demanding to be heard. So having a "pool" of stillness to sink into is a requirement for my health.

Her voice was calming from the start. She had me relaxed and breathing deep and easy. A few muscle twitches and I became the smooth surface on a calm pond...the air was perfectly still... no movement, no noises... dead calm... Behind the scenes, there is a frequency of stillness that is waiting to be tuned in to. In this meditation, we learn how to tune into this stillness. Getting comfortable in an upright position on the side of my bed, I felt how this bed supported me. Paying attention to my body, I noticed that my muscles were slightly tensed. As I began to relax, the sounds I heard in my surroundings began to fade away. Paying attention to the space around me, I felt a nothingness begin to form. With my body relaxed, my mind calm, I began to tune into the frequency of stillness. All of the sudden, I found myself floating on top of a calm pool of water. As I spread my arms out, I felt the space between my body and the top layer of the water. Knowing that this space was supporting me, I sunk further into stillness. Experiencing thoughtlessness, the only movement I sensed was this body of mine breathing. Coming back to the room I was in, I felt the support of the bed below me. Sounds in my surroundings began to appear in my awareness again. Opening my eyes, I noticed how I felt. Allowing myself to tune into the frequency of stillness, I have changed how I feel. My breath is my stillness
With tears running down my face and ragged breaths I push away all the chatter and thoughts coursing my head. I slowly dove into the breaths as I listened to her voice. I feel so blessed to have this opportunity to simple breath and be still. I feel calm and open, ready to step forward in my day.
