Often we could go throughout the day, feeling stressed, feeling anxious, tensed and we don’t even realize that we are holding on to a lot of tension on our shoulders and our neck. This will help you to bring your awareness to the shoulders and neck and to give permission to rest down. Photo by Yan Krukov from Pexels

Didn't even realize...
I didnt realize how much tension I was holding in my neck & shoulders until this meditaion! I normally consider myself someone who is relaxed; it was a good way for my body to say "hello, pay attention to me!"

Start of College
College started back up today and it was a little stressful (and lugging around a huge backpack definitely doesn't help anything). This exercise actually allowed my shoulders to relax a bit and not feel so tense afterwards. Maybe I should be saving up for a massage next!

Tension
I learned that my neck takes a lot more pressure than I though. Also how I stick out my chin. Very nice to relax these areas.

Hi everyone
I didn't realise until doing this session how tight my shoulders were. When I let them hang loose, it felt great and my mind melted into the moment, bringing me peace and tranquility :)

Neck & Shoulders Awarness
As a violist, I found these exercises particularly useful. The neck and shoulders are often parts of our body that receive the most tension, as this reflection explained, that are never released.

Stretchy!
This certainly helped loosen my neck a little bit, but sadly, I don’t feel very relaxed. It was a nice break from work, though, so I can’t complain!

I learned that I can strengthen my neck with the exercises in the recording

I learnt that.......
Our shoulders are only being supported by our collarbones and the weight of our arms are being supported by the shoulder sockets. And this practice must be repeated at the end of stressful days. Because that area absorbs stress like a sponge.

The nice moment in the neck is helpful I like the full stretch to one side of neck holding. It there and a full upward movement with the neck then slowly moving the neck side to side and shoulders front to back! I found this to be helpful as well with the tightness !

This is the best exercise.
I learnt that this meditation never gets old no matter how many times you do it. It’s rejuvenating each and every single time you do it.

Neck
I was not aware of the stress in my neck. This helped me focus on relaxing it. I have degenerative bone disease in my neck and tend to tense the muscles but didn’t realize how stiff I was keeping my neck and shoulders. This helped me loosen up. It really made my neck and shoulders feel better.

Let loose
Through my yoga practices, I have had “plug your shoulders down and back” engraved into my brain. I had no idea that I have been going through my day doing just this. It felt great to just let everything go.

Shoulders and Neck 😍😍😍
Wow 😁 I learned a long time ago that we carry a lot of our stress in our shoulders and neck and have learned to relax them a little, learning this meditation helps so much more in helping me deal with the daily tension 🙏🏽💙💚

Tense body
Letting awareness in the body is a healthy thing to do for it. The body appreciates our attentions. Takes a getting used to. Haven’t really been taught about this too much, so I’m grateful that this knowledge has appeared to me now. Amazing grace

Neck and Shoulders Relief!
I learned that lowering my shoulders and relaxing my neck, then rotating my head like it said in the meditation session relieved tension I didn’t know I had! Thanks again!

Agree that meditations that ‘need’ to be done in a specific position would benefit from notes.

Stress can be physical.
Stress, anxiety, and tension manifest themselves in physical tightness. I felt a release from this exercise: physical, then emotional.

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes
We learn that little ditty as tots to help us learn our body parts. What we typically don’t learn is the importance of self care for these body parts and how we tend to carry stress in the neck and shoulders. How different we might approach life if we learned early on that it’s okay to release the stress from our neck and shoulders. Perhaps we should re-write the childhood ditty to something like: Neck, shoulders take a break, take a break Neck, shoulders take a break, take a break Eyes and ears and mouth and nose, Neck, shoulders take a break!

Myself
I guess I just don’t know what to do with my stress when it builds up. It just sits in my head and on my shoulders and lingers for a long time till something relieves it.

Neck and shoulders
I learned that a lot of our stress is put upon our neck and shoulders so it's good to let them release by taking deep breaths and rolling them side to side.

Shoulder exercise
Sometimes mindfulness goes beyond meditation. It could also mean short breaks from usual life cycle. Taking time to do stretching to relief physical ailments.

Listening
When listening in silence I am in the moment. I relaxed and felt my breathing slow down and deepen... I want to have more mindfulness.

Posture
We tend to allow the daily pressures to mount on the body. Being aware of this tension and giving ourselves permission to release this tension allows for realignment.

Neck and shoulders
My neck and shoulders carry a lot of the negative energy that my body stores, almost like a defensive repository for the mental stressors that come into my life.

Tension
I noticed that I still hold quite a bit of tension in my neck and shoulders, even though I’ve been doing daily stretches/exercises in an attempt to relieve some of the pain. I’ve dislocated both of my shoulders multiple times and still have trouble with them often, so I always have at least some pain in my neck, shoulders, and upper back. I noticed while moving my neck to look over each shoulder with my shoulders down, back, and relaxed, I could really feel the tension lessen and afterwards my pain level has gone down a bit from where it was before!
