Burn baby burn
I usually use an image of a candle flame in a dark void with the light of the candle pushing back the darkness as my visualization of breath when I meditate. I found this exercise to be a natural extension of my “quiet space” as I was able to visualize the candle flame flickering with my breath and then flaring out into a shield of pure light and fire surrounding me. The shield is rather loud and sounds like a wildfire. The guidance in this meditation leads you to release negativity on the out breath, and I enjoy visualizing black fluttering energy being forced out and incinerated by the shield. Likewise, outside negative influences are repelled by the fire. Now, when I say “shields up,” I hear fire crackling and know that my bubble is there protecting me. I will practice this exercise to hone/reinforce the training/conditioning and make “shields up” a power phrase.
