I have never thought to give compassion to myself. I give compassion to everyone else so why not myself?! What a wonderful gift to myself.
Self compassion - my perspective ❤️
All you give to everyone needs to be given to you first, it is not being selfish, it is "you can’t give what you don’t have" ❤️🙏🏼
Really needed this
I found this really useful even when it was hard for me to focus my mind because I’m upset right now. But by gently guiding myself back to her voice over and over I managed to find some calmness and clarity through the exercise.
I definitely do that, jump right into problem solving before I even fully and clearly understand the situation
How would you soothe a crying child? Offer that same compassion to yourself. Try to sit with your problem before problem solving it. See how it makes you feel. It’s frustrating when we can’t express our problems and have others listen but rather just offer solutions.
I don't really practise self compassion and that I need to start acknowledging when painful or difficult emotions are coming up for me. Acknowledgement is the first step to self compassion.
Taught self compassion early
I wish self compassion was consciously taught to us in our youth. This is great! Thank you :)
I learned that self compassion is a thing! I never thought about comforting myself like I would comfort my kids.
I learned that I definitely reserve my compassionate moments for others. I like hearing the importance of acknowledging my own moments, identifying the emotions, and taking the time to pause to care for myself.
I learned in self compassion to acknowledge what is bothering me before jumping to the problem solving mode -I think this is helpful
The example shared in the clip was when you share a problem with your partner you first want them to acknowledge it - not just jump into solving it - it's true to do this for my self .
I want to manage my stress better
