How many times a day do we really appreciate are qualities about ourselves? Too often we, have negative self talk throughout the day about ourselves. This doesn't help us gain clarity or move forward in a positive direction, it only makes us stuck in the cycle of hatred for ourselves. We are the biggest critics of ourselves and we need to take time two and do that. We need to start by turning negative self talk, into positive self talk. Taking a step back and looking at all the positive qualities that we give to this world will help us and remind us of our value and place in this world.

I learned that I was really needing to appreciate for who I am. I usually get so worried what everyone else thinks of me when I should just focus on who I just am. I felt as if an old friend came to say hello when I brought back those notions about me. I think this is one of the first steps to self love

How I feel towards me
If I were to meet my own self, would I like me? I was always skeptical to answer that question, because part of me will say no, but another part of me will want to say yes. After this practice, I’ve learned that as much as I try to see good and beautiful things from the others, I should also do it to myself. It just feels good to know that even there are reasons that I can love me even if some other people says I am not worthy enough.

I am uncomfortable being satisfied with my better qualities, but this meditation addressed that discomfort and allowed me a few moments to appreciate me. There’s still a sense that if I begin to like something it will get taken away, but I saw that even so, it is OK to appreciate it in this moment.

This meditation was interesting to me, really boiling down to it and finding three things that you like about yourself can be more daunting than it should be. I felt a little bit of anxiety when the meditation prompted me to do this, but then realized that there's more than three things that are there and available, but it's hard to think about that offhand. I enjoyed this meditation immensely! I found it very empowering when she said to not worry what others think. Ok so to be truthful, I had a little bit of difficulty narrowing it down to just three at first. I have kept my strong & healthy ego under cover for a long time worried about what others may think. Then it came to me during this meditation, a healthy ego is a good thing! An overinflated one, not so good. But an under-inflated one is unfortunate & unwise. If I do not like me, why would anyone else? Therefore I choose to have a Strong, Healthy & Growing ego! But to keep mine in line, I ask myself 3 questions: 1) Is what I’m thinking or doing for The Betterment of Mankind? (Should be yes) 2) Will it hurt anyone else? (Needs to be no) 3) Would it make my grandma proud if she knew about it? (Must be yes) These meditations keep surprising me by helping me become a better version of myself. As they will for everyone - at their own level. Souls live on many planes!!!

I felt like I completely opened on this meditation. She was absolutely right that some self-appreciation is a much needed break. How much better would we feel if we all felt more appreciation for ourselves? And that it is a good things to like ourselves. I noticed it was easier to find things I didn’t like than I did. So I started with something small. My eyes. Yes, they are a physical quality not personality feature but it got my brain rolling on things I liked. And I was able to find two other things pretty quickly after that, that are personality features, that I like about myself.

When I read their posts, I kept thinking how much they deserve to appreciate themselves, and how healthy it is for them to practice self-love. I felt safe to shout “I love that about you” telling this to myself the third time I shouted it I felt so good like a wave of compassion just wrapped me up. And lastly I imagined giving my forehead a kiss, all the way to my brain! “You are awesome”

In today’s lesson I learned a lot about myself and the good qualities that make me how I am today. I never was the type to show myself appreciation and I was always hard on myself for no reason at all but me not being confident enough in myself and my abilities. As I grow as a person I learned how to be more confident in my abilities and in life as well

Today, I got to find some pieces of myself that I can appreciate. I have always had a hard time and I did in the beginning of the practice- narrowing down what I really liked about myself. I like my intelligence, my sense of humor, my honesty, compassion, kindness, empathy, integrity, and courage. I am trying to learn who I am because I have battled inner hatred which took hold during the negligence and abuse in childhood as a false sense of power. Shame took a deep hold to allow me not to completely lose any sense of stability from realizing the mistreatment from my father especially. For, if he was flawed, my entire world would have caved in.

In the beginning I was struggling and scattered about what I really like about myself. It took me a minute to come up with 3 things. Goes to show that we don’t really think about this too often, but once I figured it out it was great to dwell on them. I’m sure if I do this again I can find 3 different things and have myself a list of wonderful things I like about myself.

Great practice to use after you suffer a set back or criticism, valid or not. We often play the loop of the failures or criticism and need to have more balance, giving ourselves credit just as often.
