Really got me thinking
This meditation really got me thinking. I realized that the little things in life come after my family and friends and things that matter to me.

Family>Material Goods
I learned that if all the little things in life will never make you as happy and be more important as the huge things like family and friends. This is why family should always come first above material goods and items.

Rocks, pebbles and sand
Regardless of how you fill the jar of your life, there’re always gaps which can be filled. You can fill the empty places with minutia, or expand your jar to include more of the big important things...I prefer to make new friends, help more people, learn new skills...make the additions as meaningful as I can! Celebrate the life I’ve been gifted with...bless others, do more, be more.

Little things in life
I know we all have big important things in our lives we care about and appreciate but often we tend to forget that little things in life can make a huge difference and bring fulfillment in our lives.

Time
In reflection I feel like this where my priorities become jumbled. For me is always the small stuff. I can’t seem to let go and and live my life, I have to be in control at all times. I long for the day to be the rocks, and allow me to be just me.

Priorities and organize my rocks, pebbles and sand. It’s a good way to think of things. Everything cannot be a rock but yet I have to be careful not to place the importance that dwells with rocks in the position of sand.

Enjoy the bigger things instead of worrying about the little things
I learned that I need to stop worrying about the little things and settle down to start focusing on the ones closest to me like my family and the other important things to me that matter more than a full sink of dirty dishes or work.

Clarity
Loved how they stated to take care of the important things in life bc all the other things will always be there. It is true bc we never know when the MOST valuable things in our life could be gone in a moments notice and we could regret not being able to have had that last day/night with them, or wished we would of left work earlier each day to be with them. We need to cherish each and every one of friends, family and loved ones!

Stressed
I’ve been so stressed trying to pass exams lately that I haven’t had the time to really think about anything else. I really needed this story. I have one test left and I’m done and I can graduate. I’ve been so focused on that stuff that I haven’t been able to see the important things. Like my little brother laughing for the first time and cooing at everyone. I feel much better after this story

A little over a month ago I changed my way of thinking to reflect this. I like that this story gives me a visual when I need to choose between saying “oh well” to the sand, and “yes, priority!” To the rocks.

Rocks in a Jar
Before this played I selected that I was anxious because well I was/am. And while I’ve heard this story many times before, hearing it again this time helped calm my mind. Being reminded to focus on the big rocks and to stop stressing and forcing my jar full of sand is a great reminder and I will meditate on this concept more often when I’m feeling lost and not in control .

The important things
The important things like family and health come first these are the cornerstones if my life. Today I did the important things of shop, church, teach mike to drive and spend time with Alex and Teri. We cooked dinner together today. That was nice. The things I did not get done must not have been that important

Rocks and pebbles
Sometimes it seems as if work cuts into family time. There’s a lot of pressure to do more with less, pitch in to help out when someone is out, etc. it can be hard to know when the pebbles are really getting in the way of the rocks and to find the right balance.

Prioritize Your Life
I learned that everything else is just sand. I guess I tend to take the big things for granted. I'm a busy-body and constantly am on to the next task after completing another. I've also been too busy in my marriage. I don't take the time to appreciate my husband or what we have in the now. I am always looking at the chores that need to be done, or the next task at hand instead. This is probably a good source of my stress, and now I know how to address it.

Take care of important things first
Take care of the important things first because everything else is just sand. If you focus on the small daily chores and nuisances of life then you won’t have time for the really important things so it’s important to set aside time for the important things like family and fun first. my perspective
i agree on this story at 100% but for me its man hard to define what are my rocks... dont have family no friends no girlfriends lost all of my childhood friends when i get kicked of my highschool cause i wasnt present enough i was at my 5th grade... felt in a depression and i though it was better if i dont talk and close on myself and they didnt talk with me a lot about what is going on with me, nothing so... i learn a lot with my solitude and what is the real definition of becoming a man cause you are never really one.. even if you have children family to take care.. i am probably just dust and i just have to stay away from the wind... I dont know if someone will read this but it make me feel better right now to tap it at least it is not just in my mind now...its pretty heavy stuff but thats why im a solitary man (boy) no one have to carry it execpt me have a good one a yall ! Really opened my mind up
This really made me realize that I should put the important things first as he said if you pour the sand first there won’t be any room for the rocks. Meaning that if you put things that aren’t important first there will not be any room for the things that are important. Don’t worry about things that aren’t meant to be worried about.

A long way to go
I’ve heard this story many many years ago. At that time, it really didn’t mean much to me because my life was “full of rocks”. I had my loving family and friends around and didn’t need anything else. Until I lost a very close family member and started filling the spaces with “pebbles and sand” - Now I realize, it may have been my coping mechanism and in the process I lost more “rocks”. Thankfully, I was able to reconnect with the people who matter most to me. Listening to this story now has just reminded me of how far I’ve come.

Good reminder
This made me more aware of where I often lose focus trying to squeeze in so much in my day. I focus on the small things but sometimes fail to realize the “rocks” in my life are a cornerstone where I can ground myself and make my better decisions on how I want to spend my time.
R
Robert
Sand
I learned that sand is as important as the rocks. Like if you are studying /have a job, you spend a lot of time with these things but if you just live for these things you have anyway an emptiness in your life. So you have to fill this space with other things. Other activities that gives you pleasure. Sand is the pleasure you gain from the little things in your life that makes you happy.

Rocks in a Jar
I really enjoyed this lovely story. While I have heard many different ways to convey the ideas presented in this story, none have done so as well as this story. It’s simplicity is masterful and was well thought out. It transported me to the professor’s class where I saw the demonstration and thoroughly understood the lesson given. The mental imagery, and new perspective afforded me by the analogous comparatives used in this story seem, to me, to likely be effective tools for my personal course correction. I feel strongly that the analogies employed in this story will be effective in helping me become aware of any misalignment in my chosen priority structure and the what I am actually prioritizing in any given moment, so I can more quickl refocus my mind, intentions and actions so how I want to prioritize my “rocks,” and how I am actually prioritizing them, thereby, /not allowing myself to get overly caught up in all of the tiny details, as I have done quite a bit in the past. If I do get caught up, I believe I will more easily be able to refocus, because I love rocks, stones, pebbles and crystals and literally have them as decor all over my home! This story was perfect for me, but despite my bias, it really is a story that I believe everyone will easily understand and gain true comprehension of the ideas it presents.

Rocks n a jar
little things around us don't matter as much just like the sand, but the good things in life are more important such as family and friends so like the rocks and the Peebles are also important too because they are our prize possessions such as houses, and pets, etc. but basically we should learn to care more about the rocks than the sand because even without sand our life will still be complete.

My jar
Unfortunately I’ve had a few of my rocks broken up but most of them are still there and I’m so great full for that. I’m young so I’m still adding and taking things out but that’s okay eventually my jar will be full with rocks, pebbles, sand, and even water. There is always going to be space in my jar for a new person or a new experience.

I can set my priorities
I am queen procrastinator. I push off everything and then I get really anxious like why is it by done! I know I need to and G-d gave me the ability to set priorities! And I can do that and I will work on my procrastination! Because someone once told me “labels disable” by labeling myself Queen Procrastinator. I am telling myself oh well I am not going to do it anyway. By calling myself that I am taking away my ability to get things done!!!!!! REMEMBER LABELS DISABLE!!!! don’t label yourself or anyone else around you!!!!we are all awesome every single one of us!!!! Have a great day!!!

important things in life...
I've learnt that you can't always take things for granted and to fight for your dreams and try to make them come true, and that everything is possible once you put a bit of effort into it. I shouldn't focus on the small things that get in the way of the things that are important to me. The small things do matter, just not as much as the most important things in life should. Day 16 May 2019
We prioritise the things we shouldn’t and we forget the things we should, therefore I’m going to try my hardest even though I know I won’t be 100% everyday because that’s what being human is about not always being perfect or set unrealistic goals or standards for myself but to prioritise the important things in my life little by little so that one day it just becomes a habit a part of me like breathing.

I learned about life
I learned about what's more important then video games, phone, and television. I'm the second oldest in the family so I never really get what I want as much as them. But when I get something amazing I know it's ok to wait, tomorrow I'm going to a friends birthday party at a big pool and they don't get to. So I don't need to think I don't get as much as others do, I'm glad I listened to Rocks in a Jar it helped me a lot. 😊 Thank you

Notice what is not said
I always enjoy a good philosophy story however there are always words not said but implied. The students were learning how to prioritize things in life but what I noticed is that they all were in accordance with the jar being “full”. Meaning that no matter which phase you are dealing with you can always see the jar as “full” even if things are missing, or even if you just haven’t added it in yet. See your life as FULL regardless.

In two days, it will be 1 full year since my father passed away. It’s felt horrible and.. it’s hard to love life without him. From this story, I’ve come to realize that.. my father was a rock. He was my rock to lean on when I needed someone and my rock when I couldn’t stand on my own. So to hear that even with one rock gone from the jar, the jar is still full... I am a person who's always worried and stressed because of the small things that happen. Sometimes I worry too much that I have panic attacks or I can't sleep. Realizations
This has made me realize that putting sand (little things) first inside the jar will only result to not having enough room for the rocks nor the pebbles. I've learned that you shouldn't be worrying about the little things around you but things that make you happy that you cannot live without for example the big rocks in the jar are the most important things kids family friends love the pebbles in the jar or things like a job car phone but the thing that doesn't matter the most is the sand which is everything else that's happening in the world you can't control it but you can try to make a difference don't worry about what other people think or what you should be doing according to society just think about everything you really need to make your life meaningful

It helped me understand my life
Everything I stress about isn’t what’s most important I need to pay more attention to my studies family and friends after all the bullies and boys will always be there but they won’t be there when I am having a hard time my family and friends will be. And I won’t be successful if I don’t focus on my studies so I will put more effort into them. Bullies and boys are the sand in my life. My education is the pebbles. And my family and friends are my rocks.

Rocks are your priority. Matt, parents, Tasha, D, boys, Adam, Shana + Kimber are important. They are your rock. Opinions don’t matter. The small things (sand) don’t matter so don’t let them get to you. There’s no room for them. They shouldn’t take up your time. Think of who/what to put first. Will it matter? Is it worth stressing over? Sure you’re mad. But it won’t last forever so why worry on it now.

Rocks in a Jar
This meditation was very interesting. I gained a whole new perspective about life through the example of rocks in a jar. The meditation described a jar filled with large rocks, pebbles, and sand, which represents your life. The big rocks represent the important things, like family, the pebbles represent smaller but still important things, like your house or job, and the sand represents all of the small things. If you fill up the jar with only sand, there is no room for the rocks or pebbles. The same thing goes for your life. If you focus only on the small things in life, there is no room for the larger, more important things. I really liked how this meditation reminded me of how important it is to put the things that matter first. It’s the only way to truly be happy.🥰

The rocks are our lovers, family, those we hold close. Pebbles are the extra things like your car and luxury items. The sand is everything else, like your job, stress and obligations. If the sand comes first, there is no space for anything else. You must prioritize your life in this manner also.

Priorities
Taking time to figure out what the rocks, the pebbles, and the sand truly are in one’s life is really important. Otherwise, it’s just a scramble to try and remove one small thing or one large thing at a time. Getting out a piece of paper and coming up with lists of the big, medium, and small things in one’s life seems, to me, to be the best course of action.

Where there’s a will, there’s a way
Often we feel trapped in a situation and feel that there is no way out except for the obvious option(s). Sometimes we have to just take a moment and view it from all the different perspectives. We often find there were possibilities we hadn’t considered before and the situation no longer seems so bleak. Like the saying goes you have to think outside the box.

The Big Ones
Listening to Rocks in a Jar I noticed a lo. of things that I neglect on a daily basis that are the most important to me. I used to enjoy drawing, writing, reading, and spending time with family and friends and more important always doing things that benefits my dreams and goals. Now I don't do most of that. I do these things when it's most convenient to me and that needs to change. These are the things that are truly important to me and I need to make them my priority, instead of worrying about the little things. I know making this transition won't be easy but my main priority is to focus on what is truly important to me.

Rocks in a jar
Rocks are things that really matters in a life like family, health, love. Pebbles are less important but still valid. It can be job, hobbies etc. Sand represents small things. Note to me. Remember to take care of rocks in the first place, then pebbles and in the end - sand

That the rocks and pebbles rarely feel the jar because the rocks are life and life will forever go on . And that the sand feel the jar because that’s the person living the life who controls what’s going on with whom inside the jar it’s going to control the Rocks & pebbles no matter how many rocks and pebbles you put in that jar it would never be enough if u grab a whole thing of sand it’s gone instantly feel that jar up .

Realization - Family / Myself
I worry and care more about work than myself and family. I wake up everyday, weekends too concerned about what needs to be done at work, what I need to do and who isn’t accomplishing their goals. I am out gas! Emotionally, physically and spiritually. I’m not hitting my personal goal. I’m disconnected not concerned about my family

I learned that my rock(s), my son, is the most important person to me and should always take 1st place in my life. I have struggled with this and have came up short one to many times. I am thankful for his unconditional love and his ability to forgive me for when I come up short. therefore I should stop giving attention to the sand and lean how to forgive and show empathy towards others just as my son done so many times for me. love you Brandon Allen, Dad

Very simple, yet poignant.
I learned about priorities. My family, my partner, my friends always come first. The career, the hobbies, the security will come and go, but the rocks will always be there to support us. The sand will be present to always fill in the little gaps with excitement, emotion, arguments and experiences, but we should not let the sand cloud our life first. I love my family and my girlfriend and I wish all the people courage and peace.

Order Matters
As I listened to this, I recognized that the order in which you place the items in matters, which has a symbolic meaning. If you fill the jar to the brim with rocks first, then there will still be room to fill it further with pebbles and then sand. However, if you start with what is not as important, the sand or the pebbles, your jar will no longer hold any rocks. Also, the jar was still considered to be full by the students with just the rocks in it, before there were pebbles or sand. Nurture the rocks. Nurture the most important things in your life. If everything else disappears, your life will still be full to the brim. ❤️🙏

Just when you think you're focusing on rocks, you're focusing on sand
We want to think we're always focused on the rocks but it is so easy to divert our attention to sand. It's important to replace rocks with sand every once in a while and even drain out the sand and start with fresh pebbles.
L

It’s all small stuff
I tend to spend a lot of time thinking about all the “sandy” things on my to-do list and can let myself get overwhelmed by them and put off the bigger, more important things that might require just a small bit of activation energy or effort. I would like to not let myself get worked up about the sand and reserve my time and energy for what is most important—my family, my partner, and our wellbeing.
