Sometimes in practice it can be helpful to use metaphors like riding the breath like a wave to help us understand how to approach it. And like waves, there's always another breath for us to focus on to calm and center ourselves on.

Surfing breath
This exercise was all about riding or surfing the breath breathing in and breathing out riding the wave so to speak of your breath. When the mind wanders you don’t beat yourself up about it you just keep surfing. It always comes back to the breath. Just breathe

Remember that the breath is always there for you to return to as latch for your attention. I’m so not used to focusing on my breathing and in fact, I’m sure I have some bad breathing habits that contribute to stress, etc. So exercises like this make me self conscious of breathing at first and then trying too hard and losing the breath and purpose all together. I kind of feel that my breath is like when they can’t find a pulse on someone right away - the person is clearly alive but they have to go deeper or closer to hear their insides. Also, I don’t know how to surf so the metaphor wasn’t as powerful on occasions. Otherwise, when I relaxed a bit, my breathing felt very much like a wave.

Breath Speed
I’ve found that I tend to breathe faster but not in a hyperventilating type of way- it’s just the way I breathe. It’s nice to not have to worry about breathing in the nose and out the mouth and holding your breath or trying to breath in sync with the speaker, etc.

Surf the breath
Great meditation about surfing on your own breath! Really reinforces the foundational approach of letting go🤙🏽

Waves
Breath in crashes on the shore, breath out draws back to sea. If ever stressed I can always breath and picture this.

Riding the Breath Like a Wave
I enjoyed this simple meditation! I have always thought about the breath as an anchor; I had never thought about it during meditation as having the fluidity of the waves, but of course it does! I love sitting on the beach watching the waves rolling into shore. Thinking of my breath as a wave has the same calming effect!

Riding the Breath Like a Wave
Imagery is so helpful when I practice mindfulness. I love the idea of visualizing wave action tho I smile when I think of myself on a surf board. Chances are I would be sitting comfortably on the beach watching a surfer.😁🙏🏻

I really like this metaphor for breath work...the visualization of riding the wave of your breath gives your mind another thing to focus on, and for me, was really helpful in keeping me centered. 💕

In the ocean
I imagined myself lying on a cloud or in the ocean. Just riding with the waves and breathing out the bad stuff and in the good stuff. I am in the arms of God. He’s walking in front of me, he’s got it, and he wants me to rest in His presence.

Riding the breath like a wave
This visualization was very easy for me. Visualizing my breath like a wave on the ocean really anchored me to my breath. It was also very soothing since I love being in the water.

Ms Frizzle and the Magic School bus rides the breaths
Nice imagery to get small and flow through the body to ride the breath waves- a mini beach right inside me- who needs to be lonesome for the ocean! Namaste

I pictured a wave in my head, perfectly in sync with my breathing. I’ve never done that before, but it was super relaxing.

The Inner Wave
This is one of the better ones to listen to I could just picture the ocean in my mind and see the wave come in and out. My life is chaos right now and I fear the storm on the horizon but if I could just remain here on my board as the waves rock me back and forth. Maybe I can make it?

Waves
I felt this practice really helped me stay focused on the waves, my breath and not getting side tracked. I loved this practice.
