In this session, we bring in all the reinforcements. Bring in your special memories, places, and people that give you a sense of peace and well-being. Evoke feelings of comfort and rest. As the felt sense of ease and security remains, discover that you have these inner resources with you all of the time. Photo by James Wheeler from Pexels

Trouble focusing
I'm having a hard time with complicated visualization right now. The images flicker and change and it is difficult to focus. Each comforting thought seems tied to fear and anxiety. However I just woke up from a nightmare and I know this state is temporary. I still felt a little calmer after my practice.

Destiny
The part of the universe is to supply me with everything I need to fulfill my destiny. My part is to willingly walk the path of my destiny with great courage. Every aspect of my mind and body offers courage on this path. If there is an area that is in need of nurturing and healing, I must tend to that area with compassion and love. All symptoms are indications of needing healing. I have the courage to go deeper. I have the courage to heal. I have the courage to live my destiny in wholeness. Amen.

Loving & losing
It is better to have love and lost than to never love at all. The greatest thing we have is love. Before I can love another I have to love myself and trust myself. I give my heart easily. I trust quickly. This means I hurt deeply. The only way for me to love again is for me to choose a person who will love me the way I want to be loved. Right now the best person for the job is me. My heart has been broken.

A sense of peace is ours to take wherever.
Evoking images that are comforting, peaceful and stress reducing can be done almost anywhere. I’ve learned that I travel with this ability and when I encounter a situation or difficulty that may seem overwhelming I am able to take a few moments to step out of the situation and practice this meditation. When I do I can re-enter whatever it was that was troubling with a more positive and thoughtful perspective.

Reinfrocement
Today I had a hard time trying to focus and get into this mediation. I relaxed but it was hard for me to close my eyes and find that place were there was peace to envision of tranquility. I still took the time to mediated but it was not as good as how I felt when yesterday’s mediation was spot on. I was a bit more relaxed when I went through my stressful day and working through it instead of trying to mediate. I will work on this tomorrow and hopefully get back to how I have been feeling.

Sunning...
My happy place turned out to be on the sunny, sandy beach. Laying out and feeling the warmth of the suns rays being absorbed by my skins solar panels relaxes me. Smelling the familiar salty air makes me feel safe somehow, like I belong here, like I am home again! As the waves splash on shore, their rhythm builds me into a levitating mood and I feel my body rising slowly a few inches above the sand. I hear the seagulls calling for me to join them, but not today I say... I want to feel safe & grounded and I do!

The park
I returned to my teenage years when I spent quite some time at the park in my town. It was a canyon and many people camped there for the weekend and even weeks. Particularly, I was taken back to a day when my husband and I (dating at the time) spent a day just hanging out there in a cove area. We had a blanket and just relaxed together in the sunlight. This is a happy place for me. I will use this practice to take me there when I feel stressed.

Resources
I learned that we can easily and readily have resources with us at the “close of an eye”; warm thoughts of the people, places and things we treasure offer us a sense of calm and peace in the midst of stressful or anxiety ridden moments. My bed
I started out this meditation with imagining a paradise with a waterfall and beautiful trees. But then, I noticed that that didn’t give me such a comforting or calm feeling. Towards the end of the meditation, I still couldn’t decide which place was my safe place. Until it dawned on me, what is the place that you usually feel most comfortable and that you spend a lot of time in? Your bed! I started to imagine laying in my bed and just like that I was calm at last. There’s no need for an amazingly beautiful place to feel comfortable, just think of your bed :)

Thank you aura
I am sorry, I didn’t feel the relief that I usually get to experience within the 3 minutes of meditation. I appreciate every single practice that has been available for me. Some a little more-so than others. I just have been dealing with this dilemma that has been going since November and it was on the night before 3 days ago that things finally began to look up and I thought it would be all over but it instead got so much more upsetting and it really hit me so instead of crying any longer I thought I I should try to meditate and well here I am. I know that its possible to feel love and bring it to my senses through memories and focus. So for that alone I wanna say I learned how to feel some thing I wanted to so badly for so long. What hurts I guess is not being able to reciprocate those feelings and unconditional love to that loving and very deserving friend. And I am struggling with that right now.😓

Happy place
My happy place is alone, cooking a meal for friends that are coming over later in a house that does not yet exist. It’s a tiny two bedroom, fixer upper, but quaint. Anthony is out running his errands, I am making a stew on a cold day for everyone that is going to show up later to enjoy it. In the meantime I am sipping on some wine and dancing with the cats between cleaning sessions. They enjoy watching me dance and sometimes join in to play. There is a fire going. The whole house smells like cloves stew and warm yeast or bread.

No happy place?
I couldn’t find my happy place. In 7 minutes. I’m not sure what that means. If my mind was just too everywhere, my anxiety was too high, or something more depressing lol. I have difficulty remembering a place or time I’ve ever felt totally safe and/or cared for I suppose. Still nice to try to go through the process of breathing and allowing thoughts to come and go nonjudgmentally.

My place
My happy place was in a small house on a hill. A sun room with breezes in the trees outside, sitting in my chair, looking out past the city to the ocean. The faint scent of sage and bergamot. Two little boys there, my dog—and her. But my boys are almost grown. She is gone, the dog with her. The house and the room—no longer mine. I’m alone. Sitting in my chair. My happy place.

My first time writing
I’ve been very stressed from work, relationships/arguments with families and friends, and it’s taken an extremely negative toll on me physically, psychologically and emotionally. I’ve cried a lot in these past few weeks and I didn’t know how to get myself out of the slump I was and slightly still in. I’m usually a very strong, independent and goal focused individual where usually others come to me asking for advice and strength. It was hard to realize that I am not as strong as I had thought or wanted to believe that I was. Life is hard sometimes and we don’t always feel like it’ll get better. However, I started doing yoga with an amazing yoga teacher on YouTube (Yoga with Adrienne) and meditating (whenever I need it or am just wanting some self-love) and it has helped a lot. I’m learning to re-love myself, to be my own bff and find myself again. It’s tough sometimes but you got this. Find your inner self and love yourself. Embrace your beautiful/handsome, unique self. Be your own bff. 🙂

Peaceful Haven
When the outside world seems overwhelming, we can cultivate a place in our mind that brings us feelings of calm and comfort. My mind went back to last Sunday afternoon when I was laying in my hammock in my backyard on a pretty day reading a book. I felt a cool breeze on my skin. I would read for a little bit. And, then pause to look up at the trees and inhale the fresh air along with the damp earth. In this moment, I am truly content. There is no one or anything needing my attention in this moment. This is my time to myself. As I let go of this visualization, I am smiling. I am feeling calm and grounded. Anytime, I start to feel stressed I can take a few moments to close my eyes, focus on breath, and return to my peaceful haven.

‘Reinforcements’ was exactly what I needed. There are currently so many stressors in my life, the main one being watching my father’s dementia steadily steal him away. Add in a complete lack of support from family, letting go of the toxic ones and struggling with depression and ongoing grief ... it feels like my life is at a standstill while I deal with all this. Every time I visit my darling Dad now, I end up in tears when I leave. The grief is overwhelming. I was looking for something to help me be strong for him through this coming visit, and to recover more quickly afterwards. I’m hoping doing this lovely meditation before and directly after a visit will help. Thank you Lauren.
