There is a common misconception about meditation that it is all about "stopping thoughts." But that can be an exercise in frustration, since our minds are accustomed to thinking. Rather, mindfulness is about bringing our full awareness to whatever is present for us, including our thoughts. In this meditation, you will practice naming the kinds of thoughts coming up for you. You will learn how to be the observer of your own thinking, which ultimately will allow you to respond to events in your life with wisdom, rather than being in reaction to them. Stepping outside of my thoughts
Naming the thought helps me step outside of it. I can observe them without getting involved with them. I can also see patterns of my thoughts eg worry, work, relationships etc

Columbus Day 2017
This is my 2nd ever Meditation and I am getting addicted now๐Ÿค— Actually, I really like this one because it had me focus on 7 major thoughts that are going on in my mind right now: Bella (no reasons), Tara (having hard time right now), Job Interview (important), Stress, Tim (I need to write a letter for him for court), Finances (weโ€™re struggling), and Necessities.

Naming my thoughts.
I learned that overall I feel hurt. Hurt from Brandon. Sad, hopeless, and stuck. I learned that I don't know what the answer is. I know that I don't want to feel this way anymore but I also know that sometimes he makes me feel so good. BUT I don't know if it is worth it to feel like this. I don't want to be hurt anymore. I just want to feel happy and I don't know how to get there. The other thought I had was of Gracie lying on me. This was a loving thought and she is my everything. I am so happy to have her with me .

Thoughts
Naming thoughts is a good ideas. How much time do I spend planning and worrying. It is a good insight to have as I move through my day.

Focus
I learned that I can change my focus if I relaxed and just thought and listened to my thoughts and getting my focus back by allowing myself to think over the things that stress me out.

Multi tasking!
Even when I was trying to focus on my breath, I was finding myself having multiple thoughts, trying to name the thought and focus on the breath at the same time! It wS amusing and frustrating.
