There is a common misconception about meditation that it is all about "stopping thoughts." But that can be an exercise in frustration, since our minds are accustomed to thinking. Rather, mindfulness is about bringing our full awareness to whatever is present for us, including our thoughts. In this meditation, you will practice naming the kinds of thoughts coming up for you. You will learn how to be the observer of your own thinking, which ultimately will allow you to respond to events in your life with wisdom, rather than being in reaction to them. Stepping outside of my thoughts
Naming the thought helps me step outside of it. I can observe them without getting involved with them. I can also see patterns of my thoughts eg worry, work, relationships etc

Columbus Day 2017
This is my 2nd ever Meditation and I am getting addicted now🤗 Actually, I really like this one because it had me focus on 7 major thoughts that are going on in my mind right now: Bella (no reasons), Tara (having hard time right now), Job Interview (important), Stress, Tim (I need to write a letter for him for court), Finances (we’re struggling), and Necessities.

Naming my thoughts.
I learned that overall I feel hurt. Hurt from Brandon. Sad, hopeless, and stuck. I learned that I don't know what the answer is. I know that I don't want to feel this way anymore but I also know that sometimes he makes me feel so good. BUT I don't know if it is worth it to feel like this. I don't want to be hurt anymore. I just want to feel happy and I don't know how to get there. The other thought I had was of Gracie lying on me. This was a loving thought and she is my everything. I am so happy to have her with me .

Multi tasking!
Even when I was trying to focus on my breath, I was finding myself having multiple thoughts, trying to name the thought and focus on the breath at the same time! It wS amusing and frustrating.

Control
I find that now naming my thoughts lets me have more control over them. Like it’s okay to worry but if I realize it’s only a worrying thought, then I can dismiss it easily. Also realized that a thought is just that, a thought. I spend too much time thinking than I do acting on my thoughts.

Naming my thoughts
It seemed that all my thoughts would have been named worry but they were not. This helped me to realize even though most of my thoughts were worry I had other thoughts too. Great meditation.

Thoughts within thoughts
Multitude of thoughts cascade through my mind but underneath is the calming ocean that I float upon. My thoughts dive through my mind like a lithe dolphin cresting the surface and then diving down. Joy in being, living in the now while the ocean leviathans move lazily in the deep to appear occasionally above the sea. Large eyes contemplating the world before they sink below again. My mind an ocean of life.

Not resisting the thought and giving it a name or description actually calms that thought and can let it go.

Observing thoughts
I learned that thoughts are just there in our mind . They come and go but the thing that stays with us is the present moment. We can get distracted by thoughts but by simply observing the thought and naming it helps us to get back to reality.

Too much
Often we can get caught up in the mundane day to day style of living. We need to focus not only on the present, but the future and past as well. By living using our thoughts to retrace our steps, and plan our day we can allow our minds to be stable

Sort: acknowledge, return
By naming my thoughts (analyzing, planning, remembering, worrying), I do them justice. This allows me to return to noticing each inhale and exhale, each stimulus of the moment. Maybe I’ll even notice patterns of thoughts and become more self aware as time goes on

When we are stressed or have anxiety it is our spirit trying to communicate with us but we don't
Always listen. When we meditate breathe and listen answers will come to us naturally. We all need to be kind and compassionate to each other and the world will be a better place.

Many thoughts
I never realized how many varieties of thoughts go through my head in very little time. Categorizing them gives a new perspective on my thoughts and thought patterns, making it easier for me to identify the thoughts that provoke my anxiety in unwarranted situations.

Naming Thoughts
This was a good mindfulness technique for me. Now I can name my thoughts without judgement and come back to my breath while practicing mindfulness. I especially liked the reminder that my breath is my “touchstone.” Wow...I still have sooo much to learn! Mindfulness for me still requires much PRACTICE.

Giving thoughts a name
This was a very good technique for me. I tend to get lost in my thoughts, not really being in the moment, especially during meditation. This allows me to recognize and acknowledge my thoughts rather than just trying to push them away, where they will always resurface. I think I will try this even out of meditation, with practice this will help me to potentially stop worrying and end obsessive thought patterns.

Acknowledging your thoughts
Wow. I never thought to name my thoughts... For whatever reason, giving them a name - worrying, planning, remembering, etc - helps me understand the thought better; and then coming back to the breath helps me move past the thought, instead of getting stuck on it like a feedback loop. Extremely helpful technique.

Naming thoughts
Thinking about how we feel emotionally and what kind things we have to do, helps us in our daily life to stop. Take a moment to breathe. And realize what we have to proceed in our life, telling our self what exactly it is we have to get done. By building strength and seeing things in perspective that everything is okay, expressing how we feel makes us as people feel better. Moving on, in our busy lifes

Naming thoughts
Working on pinpointing my thoughts could help me to have more control of what I allow myself to think about. I’m still healing from my dealings with someone else and my heart hasnt caught up to the healing that my mind is ready for. Naming thoughts could possibly help me to identify my feelings and let them go.

Pensamientos nombrados

What’s in a name...
After giving a name/category to my thought coming in during meditation it was easier to let it go, and interesting to see what categories were on my mind- planning, remembering, worries. I named a category stories, my mind churning over a great fantasy book I’ve been listening to on audio while I commute. Namaste

Felt so natural
I liked naming my thoughts, I only had a few that weren’t bad just things I need to do. The thoughts went away shortly after naming them, it felt so natural. There was a simplicity about the breathing that I liked and I started to roll my shoulders back to try to loosen them up because they felt so tight. This is a meditation I should do every night! 💙

Rushing
I found myself wanting to meditate to “get it over with,” so I can go on with my morning. It took a second for me to realize that this isn’t the reason why I began meditating in the first place. As I focused on my breath, I found myself wanting to blink my eyes open and see how much longer I had left. I have no reason to rush, yet I am so used to rushing that it has become my default mood. Reminding myself this morning that I continue to practice meditation to live more fully and mindfully. Meditating reminds me of the way I wish and strive to live; it is more than just another task on my to-do list.

Softness
Buck up buttercup. Stay soft in a world that desires toughness is a strength we need in more people. It is softness that leads to relaxation. It is softness that allows us to be vulnerable. Gentleness and kindness make the day easier to survive.

Living in the NOW
If I name the thoughts, then maybe it will remind me that I’m not living in the now. Especially when thoughts of the past come up. If I can live in each series of ‘nows’ then I don’t have to categorize the thoughts, each thought will be about now.
L
Lauren
Naming my thoughts
If I name my thoughts, it gives me an idea of what I need to do. In the video my mind started wandering, lost, deep in thought, about simple nothingness. Possibly, if I name my thoughts, it will remind me what I need to complete, for example, if I started worrying about homework, id make a mental note to get that done. If I started planning my timetable, I would make a mental note to write it down. Or if i started getting anxiety, i would name my anxiety, and what is making me anxious, finding the root of the problem, and fixing it. Naming my thoughts helps me find a solution to most of my thoughts and worries. Naming my thoughts. Breathe in. Breathe out. Problem solving.

Past, future, who needs me now
I had really good luck today in naming then moving past my thoughts by sticking with 3 categories- remembering, future, and ‘does somebody or something need my attention right now?’. Deciding no one/nothing needs me in the next 5 minutes was able to experience 20 breaths of present. Namaste

Neutral thoughts
Naming my thoughts made me feel so much more peaceful about them. Often if thoughts come up during my mindful minutes, I feel frustrated by them or feel like I’m failing at being present. Naming them & letting them go makes the thoughts neutral & took away the feelings I had about them. I was able to allow myself to have that experience without judgement.

Naming thoughts
Another moment for me to go back to basics. This is one of the first things I learnt when my anxiety first started. I learnt to name my thoughts rather than resisting them. Once they were labeled I was able to move on. Having become complacent in my ways, I often forget about this technique and try and find ways to avoid the though rather than just allowing it to come and go. A great short meditation and reminder.

Acknowledgement
In this meditation, we understand that calming thoughts is not always a good thing; it can be just a sign of not confronting what's keeping you up at night, or what's making you fidgety. When we acknowledge our thoughts, and name them or put tabs to it, is when we will truly know how to control those thoughts.
