Celebrating...
Going through the motions of our everyday life and always striving for more, it can seem like we are a character in the movie, Groundhog Day.
Going through the mundane of our lives, we celebrate the big wins in our life, but don’t bother with the small wins. In this eye-opening meditation, Katie reminds us that there are miracles in the mundane.
Feeling the weight of my body while sitting on the side of the bed, I brought my awareness to my breath. Taking this pause while focusing on various sensations in my body as well as my breath, I found myself in the here and now. In the here and now, there are no thoughts of yesterday, no thoughts of my upcoming day nor thoughts of tomorrow and I am truly free to enjoy these unique moments.
Following Katie’s guidance, I brought awareness to a time where I was going through the motions of my life, but saw a miracle. I was walking my mom’s dog on the same route I’ve done many times before. On our way back, we were walking on the paved path towards the front door. I happened to look down and saw a white feather laying there. Picking it up, I was immediately reminded of my beautiful boy, Montee whom passed a few months ago. Feeling the texture of this feather between my fingers, I felt his presence around me.
Pressing pause on this moment of time in my mind’s eye, I noticed the resources I had been given and became grateful for the heavy coat, hat, scarf and gloves I was wearing. I noticed my body was working properly and became grateful. Then, I went back through my entire walk in my mind’s eye and became witness to even more miracles. Filled with gratitude by witnessing these miracles in the mundane, my body, mind and soul became lighter.
To become witness to these miraculous moments happening all around us, we just need to remember to take moments to pause and focus on our breath. This pause allows us to change our perceptions. With our perceptions changed, we become grateful for literally everything! Grateful, we can celebrate every moment we are given! After all, when we really think about it, our own life is a miracle and therefore, we, in fact, are miracles! It’s time we celebrate miracles! Who’s with me?
