In this meditation we use our feet as a focus for our mindfulness practice. This can help you to feel more grounded, present and calm. Please note: If you are struggling with your mental health it's really important to seek professional help. These meditations are not a substitute for that but can be used along side therapy to help to support you. For more on Carla-Jo and her work please see www.carlajo-mindfulness.com

Meditation focus on the feet
Dear all, I wanted to share this meditation with you. Sometimes my class participants who are beginning their mindfulness journey find it difficult to focus on the breath initially. This can be for a variety of reasons such as people fearing getting too close to their body. Some people find if they pay attention to their breath to begin with they overthink about the breath and then feel like they are experiencing shortness of breath. So for these people I recommend a different area of focus for the mind such as the feet (if they are pain free) Bringing your awareness down to your feet can also be very grounding. So for those people and anyone else who’d like to practice mindfulness of the body today, here is my meditation Mindfulness of the body-Feet. Enjoy 😊 Kind Wishes and Love , Carla-Jo

Mindfulness of the Body-Feet
When I focus on another part of my body, it seems as though my breathing is more relaxed. When I focus on my breath, I often am overthinking and working too hard. Thanks for this insight, Carla-Jo.🙏🏻

Sensations
Interesting how, when you move your attention to just one part of your body, it develops a tingling sensation. Mindfulness breeds awareness.

Feet 🦶
I wasn’t into this one 💯 % this morning. I did this meditation sitting in an upright position with my feet on the floor. When I started to focus on my feet for some reason I felt like my left side was sitting higher than my right side. Towards the end I felt balanced. When I was focusing on my toes, I could feel pressure on both my big toes.

Appreciating...
Most of us do not pay much attention to their feet. Some may even say they don’t even like them. But, our feet deserve our attention just as much as other parts of our body. For our feet allows us to walk, to stand and perhaps the most important, allows us feel the stability of the ground below and thus, grounding us. Sitting in my chair while barefoot, I went within my body and sensed any sensations occurring. Bringing awareness to my feet, I sensed the pressure on the soles of my feet caused by the ground. I felt the texture of the rug below my feet. I moved each toe individually and noticed one toe on my left foot numb due to sciatica. I felt how the air flowed over my feet. The more awareness I brought to my feet, the more I felt tingling sensations arise. Having this aliveness grow in my feet, I am reminded of how much they do for me, such as to walk, stand and ground myself. I have come to love being barefoot because there is no barrier between my feet and the ground. This allows me release old energy into the Earth, receive new energy and feel the sensations of being grounded more effectively. Indeed, I appreciate my feet. Take some time to appreciate your feet. They will appreciate the attention and your mind will appreciate the opportunity to focus on something other than thoughts. Namaste 🙏🏻❤️☮️

Feet
Being aware of my feet in particular this practise has really opened up my mind to what they do for us everyday. People don’t find the time to appreciate their bodies often, so taking this time to reflect and appreciate my feet was a breath of fresh air. Our feet lead us to places, and are the bases of our body, holding us down and grounding us, so for the we shall be grateful ❤️🦶🏼

Feet
Focus on how much they support me daily. How much I take them for granted.
