Valuable practice
Clear and helpful guidance for a meditation I always find both rewarding and challenging. Becoming an impartial observer is never easy, remaining in that space is even more difficult while the labels and stories pop up! Thanks

Lovely invitations
1 "... noticing the textures of sounds ..." - an especially interesting suggestion. 2 "... seeing if you can be an impartial observer" - something to keep working on, but impartially! Many thanks.

Calm and Steady
The steady drone of the attic fan was wonderful for helping my attention stay where it was supposed to be.

Listening helps a lot
Focusing on something as concrete as sounds allowed me to stop the rumination for a little while. What a relief!

The peace in letting go
Letting go of the state of wanting and not wanting is a very blissful space.

Listening
I learned that'l it's important to allow thoughts to come and go as they please.

I learned to think of the texture of sounds which I will continue to notice throughout my day today.
I heard a car on the road and pictured the texture of rough travel or smooth rubber.

Let go
I had trouble mid way through this session in just letting go of my thoughts and listening to the sounds around me. I at first tried to fight off my thoughts but let go and let them pass and was able to get back to just listening.

Irritating Noise
Noise irritates me easily. Small sounds keep my anxiety rising as I try to fall asleep at night. When I am aware of the unpleasant sound, and am also aware of my body’s reaction to the sound, it is somehow less powerful. When there is an awareness of the feeing, and not just a sense of helplessness when a negative feeling occurs, you almost disarm yourself. It’s being unaware to our body’s negative reactivity that makes us a puppet to the biology of our emotions.
