I have so much going on now, since the school year has started and I’m taking multiple extracurriculars that it’s hard to figure out my priorities. These meditations help to focus on the present and not constantly think about what I have to do next and if I have time to do other things. I really enjoy this, because it lends a spot of calm to my life.

This is a nice little app. I have a morning routine, but sometimes things happen. 3 to 5 minutes isn’t a lot of time. If this app can help me stop and take my meditation time, that’s great.

As with many things in life, being distracted during meditation is not bad or wrong, but it’s how you handle it. Your ability to recognize when drifting off coarse and to pull yourself back in is what makes you better and stronger

Meditation is staying focus on the present. And if our mind derived from the main focus we have the ability to return our minds to that Main present focus.

Focus: awareness rather than time
It’s easy to forget that focusing the mind doesn’t necessarily matter how long you focus on something but being aware when you loose focus and returning that focus. It’s a good lesson to learn from this meditation that can be applied to many aspects of life.

Erasing...
I was standing there in front of a big, blank “old school” chalkboard. Suddenly I became aware of a anxious thought writing itself on this chalkboard of my mind like graffiti in an alley. With Dorothy’s lovely voice coming over the intercom, I saw myself simply pick up an “old school” eraser and wipe the board clean again... but then the another thought started writing itself. However, I noticed that after seeing 2-3 others being erased, the writing stopped coming and it seemed like hours of “blankness” until that familiar piano tune played... and it was time for recess! Time to celebrate a lesson learned. My takeaway - When graffiti (negative thoughts) show up in our minds, get rid of them quickly and eventually they may stop coming back.

As I focused on my breathing I fell into this heavy abyss with nothing around me. I felt relaxed and all was quiet just for those few moments. It was quite amazing. Thank you, Dorothy! Have a nice day, Everyone!😀

Finally managed to find the means to become a premium member here at Aura, and on the reccomendation of my favorite Aura comrade, Patty, tried this as my first ever seven minute session...and my mind wandered...HARD! I found lots of little things to fiddle with and do instead if paying attention to this lesson! Going to have to discipline myself much better to do seven minute lessons!😳

Distractions are becoming less
I’m in a transition where I’m having to balance a lot more than the usual so meditation and yoga have been helping me with balance. This morning my son was not having it! Trying to distract me from my meditation session. It was 50/50. But it helped me learn that there are always going to be something that is going to try and distract you...breathe through it and keep peace! ✌🏾

I have realized that when I am having a rough time focusing and n my breath, I tend to breathe weirdly. And then my focus goes to the unnaturalness of my breath.

I focused more on my breathing and zeroing in on my panic attack. I didn’t try to pinpoint why I was having the attack but taking steady breaths and riding it out calmly and acknowledging it was there. While my chest still feels tight, I can feel the anxiety subsiding. Deep, calm breaths.

I normally tend to have much stress over school and it makes me feel so negative. Even though this has made me feel very stressed, I have learned on Aura that all of my muscles have relaxed and feel relieved. And that I just need to give myself a chance to actually breathe. Now, it doesn’t feel like a lazy kind of slouchy way. It was a way that I can’t explain unless you try it. I actually now feel quite tired most likely as it is late at night but this feels like a different kind of tired. As if my brain has taken its time to breathe for once. This is what I have learnt and so grateful to have Aura. Hannah x
