Meditation for overthinkers
When the news lands heavy, and there's nothing you can do. This meditation uses a gentle form of Tonglen: breathe in what's hard, breathe out a wish for people to be safe. First we notice where a headline sat in the body. It affected you because you care. Breathing in, this is hard. Breathing out, may they be safe. Then we widen it. Right now someone is making a neighbour a cup of tea, and a nurse is starting her night shift. The fire gets the pictures; the people carrying the water are out there too. Three wishes to finish. May they be safe. May I care without drowning. May I put it down when I've done what I can. Music underneath.
