This practice is great for cultivating the wish for yourself to be happy - sounds obvious, but very often we are hard on ourselves and much kinder to others. By bringing that kind intention home to our own hearts, we can find peace there and learn to quiet critical voices.

May I Be Happy
May I Be happy. May I be well. I choose to be happy. I choose not to let other people determine my happiness. This is what I took from this meditation. A reminder I truly needed after feeling like the walls around me are caving in and with the possibility of losing everything to fight for what is just and right. Regardless of what’s going on around me, I can choose to be happy. It’s in my power and one I’m going to try and exert.

I learned that simply saying those words aligned with my breath made me calm and clears my mind. It’s 6 AM, jet lag set and up since 330. Letting go of the hands at the end, I could feel myself sink in to the bed.

When days are tough it’s tough to say the words
Trying days make this practice tough. How to the. off the brain to listen versus hear and process the words. I felt silly thinking how could words matter, yet I know that I have to set the intention and I deserve to be well and happy today.

Nice and Simple
This is a nice, simple meditation with one objective: repeat “may I be well” and “may I be happy.” The only issue I have, which is present in the narrator’s other meditations, is her heavy guidance. Her meditations may be directed towards beginners; even then, her guidance is excessive (even around the middle of the meditation, she repeats the phrases “may I be well” and “may I be happy.” Although this repetition may be necessary with complex phrases, these phrases are too simple for this to be necessary.)

I am well & I am happy
This was exactly what I needed this morning. I changed the words to “I am well and I am happy.” This help me to not feel like I still have something to attain today. I am well and I am happy and nobody can take that away from me as I navigate through this day. I loved this.

I really love this meditation!
This one really seems to help make me feel calmer and more anchored to the present. I have done this particular meditation before but didn’t favorite it back then so I’m glad it came around again. I love the positive reaffirmation that I can be well and I can try to be happy. It really helps me to feel much lighter. I added a few extra phrases in there like “May I be okay” and “May I be healthy.” Definitely a favorite of mine.

Something was missing for me
As an American, it was difficult for me to try saying the phrase “May I be happy” as a command as my brain was almost turning it into a question as if I was asking for permission to be happy: “May I be happy?” I then added “always” which made it feel a lot better…like a wish for continued happiness: “May I ALWAYS be happy”.
