When I tried to picture that “special connection” person, I struggled. When I started to wish them good things, I tensed up defensively. Although I like the idea of a connection, I block it with everyone I know. I don’t want my life to cause concern or pain to others, so I block getting that close.

Wow, that was powerful.
I started crying when it talked about being kind to yourself. I’ve been so focused on studying for a big exam that I didn’t realize how hard I’ve been on myself. I’m glad I took a few minutes to get out of my head, it gave me perspective on things. I need to be kinder to myself and realize I’m doing the best I can at this moment. And it’s okay to be exactly where I am.

I found it difficult to think of a friend, as all of mine are toxic. To the degree of drugs, alcohol etc and that is something I’m trying to stay away from. I though of my brother - however just before doing this I had a heated moment and was finding it difficult to be present. I believe the overall message is to show love and appreciation to those around you which I’m effect creates a loving environment around you

I learned the time where I feel love the most; is when I'm showing love to those who mean most to me. There is no greater love. Friendship is worth more than treasure. To start with I struggled to choose a friend, which made it hard to focus my attention. But once I did, I found myself really in the moment, noticing all my senses; holiday their hands, seeing them smile and hearing them laugh - I surprised myself as to how easy it was to be in that moment!

This meditation invites us to think of a dear friend and wish them well through loving-kindness thoughts. Indeed, it is a wonderful exercise to do to show your appreciation towards a friend. I began thinking of a friend and visualized them being in a state of peace. While sending my friend well wishes, I visualized them having a smile on their face with an even greater sense of peace. By doing this, my heart became full of warmth and gratitude for my friend, our friendship and the wonderful connection we share.
