a good chair
when I first started guitar
I practiced on a folding portable camp chair
it wasnât much to look at; just a curved plastic back support, which doubled as a handle during transport, a strong canvas seat and a pair of aluminum cross-leg trestles
it was light as a feather, had no arms, and took up very little space
I spent hundreds of joyful hours supported by that chair as I cradled a piece of hollow wood on my lap, low to the ground, my legs spread out, one forward, one back as I tilted,
swayed, leaned, and rocked until my fingers were raw
I still have that chair
the canvas is ripped
the back cracked
the legs will not support my weight
But I wouldnât part with it for all the money in the world
