Small Things
It is easy for us to feel gratitude for the big accomplishments we achieve throughout life. However, it is so easy to overlook the small things in our lives. In this meditation, we are invited to have gratitude for the small things.
This meditation made me think of having running water. While living on my own in Alaska, I stayed in a dry cabin. I had no access to running water. I had 5 gallon buckets in which I would pour into a 55 gallon drum. I could turn on a switch underneath my sink in the kitchen and turn on the facet to have grey water. My bathroom was my outhouse. I would shower at the university or various other places. It was a different way of life, but I made it work throughout my years of living in the cabin.
Now, I no longer have to pour water into a 55 gallon drum to have access to water. I do not have to boil water to wash dishes. I do not have to leave my house in order to take a shower. For all of these reasons, I am truly grateful.
After listening, I looked around my surroundings. I see beautiful flowers. I hear birds chirping in the trees. I feel a small breeze on my skin. By practicing gratitude for the small things that I have in my life, my overall well-being has been greatly enhanced. Namaste! 🙏🏻❤️😊
