Throughout this meditation my wife kept popping up when I thought of beauty. She is a symphony of beauty that I hear with my eyes. After 40 years she is still in tune, and pitch perfect. My heart dances as I lose myself in her rhythm.

When I start to get in a funk about my worth I have to remind myself to look for the good in others. This serves me well most of the time unless I start comparing myself to them. I haven't been taking my dog to visit nursing home residents lately because of this funk. Today I will go and look for the beauty that resides within each person and in myself. 🙏🏼Namaste.

Life will always have its ugly sides. People or situation could hurt you, offend you, betray you, but dwelling on it will never help. It will keep you in prison. Gratitude changes your attitude about your circumstances, yourself and others...
In order to see the beauty both in ourselves and in others we need to focus on “what is” presently rather than the almost automatic way most of us think. We are a part of a society and culture that demands we never be satisfied and with that comes the endless consumption that keeps the gears grinding. It’s a false sense of lacking that most of us are truly feeling apart from those who are struggling right now to get their basic human needs met. The things we truly need for survival, basic shelter, a clean source of water, food, safety and love we often take for granted as we chase what we believe we lack externally. This is really a distorted reflection of what we believe we lack internally. I try to practice focusing on what I do have by starting with my external needs that are already met and work towards recognizing that I’m not lacking internally as a person either. When I’m able to come to a place of self compassion, I can more readily show that to others.

In this meditation, the thing that stuck out to me the most was the comment about how looking for things we don’t like about ourselves or things we “should” change, take away from appreciating the present moment as is. It is so important to find the good in yourself. However, sometimes it’s important to acknowledge negativity. Sometimes to love yourself and others requires making a change or severing a connection. Not because the other person is “bad” but because the connection doesn’t help you love yourself and be your best. When you love yourself, it will help you make a change if needed.

If you only focus on the things that you don’t like about yourself and others You will live negative and defeated, and without true joy. If you were given the car of your dreams but it was in a color you didn’t care for. If you focused on the color you would not have any joy in all the other things you liked about that vehicle. Look for the things that you do like about yourself and others and concentrate on them. Make a list of things that you like about yourself and about your current life.

Better in grief and illness
Sometimes our physical illness such as Cancer or Multiple Sclerosis can have a huge affect on our mood or strength it takes to cope with difficult circumstances. When we add losing someone close to us, it can really factor in with our ability to smile and push through. I have found these meditations and stories to be so beneficial not only in helping with coping skills but also to allow ourselves rest from weariness. This is absolutely one of my favorites. Finding Beauty in Others and Yourself
My Intuition always senses people’s auras; I always can tell when someone has a good aura which is always bright and happy and when someone has a bad aura which is always dark and miserable. Every time my intuition senses someone’s aura I tend to hang around those who have a light aura because people with dark auras tend to be very toxic or very unpleasant to hang around with. Lucky I have good hearted friends and a boyfriend with very good auras
