A natural byproduct of mindfulness is that it gets us to becoming aware of what is in the moment, and what's possible. It's not to change us, but to help us hold presence. This ancient technique of gazing is a potent mindfulness practice in order to grow consciousness and to cultivate fierce focus. Photo by David Bartus from Pexels

Mindfulness
I Love to focus on what My senses are! What I see, hear, smell and taste. Everyday Mindfulness is about all of our senses and how great it makes us feel, when we let our mind heal!

Working on transforming
Today I was not in the best of moods, not sure why I am so stressed but my words were not always kind - they were not intended to be mean, I was just feeling overly frustrated with no idea why. Tomorrow is a new day and I will work to be mindful of how I speak, both the words and the tone -as I want my words both spoken and implied to have a positive effect on the world.

Practice
Today i’ve been really stressed out and doing three minute meditations every day has really helped me to get back in focus and to not stress as much and have anxiety. Sometimes I’ll get so worked up over my anxiety and stress I’ll have to stop what I’m doing and walk away. Not all the time all this happen but sometimes it all happened so much that I’ll fall and hurt myself. The three minute meditations of taught me that I don’t always need to do that and that I can call myself down.

Mindfulness
I can use outside objects to practice. I’ve always internalized my mindfulness, which is difficult with a chronic illness because I end up focusing on the illness or discomfort instead of focusing on the present.

Stop
To just take some time. Two minutes of my day to just stop what I’m doing and just be in the moment and focus

Intentional awareness
When dealing with anxiety, I think I often don’t want to focus on awareness. I just want to try to escape the moment. But even bringing awareness to those moments of anxiety could remind myself that everything is actually okay. Nothing catastrophic is happening in this moment.

Quieting the Mind
My mind always seems like a crowded, but very fast super highway. Thoughts and ideas coming a going quickly, constantly, and all at once. Mindfulness helps me to clear the highway and allow a single thought to take its time as it travels down the road. It doesn’t last long, but it is a welcomed reprieve.

Focus
I woke up very early this morning and wandered outside. The night sky was breath taking - a multitude of stars filled the sky. More than I had ever seen before and even as I watched a shooting star whizzed by. Still as an adult I wish upon a shooting star and a part of me believes in them. This meditation brings me focus onto what I need rather than want. Concentration on a goal, realise when you have lost focus to open your eyes and look again. I now understand my viewing the night sky was my refocus onto what actually matters - my needs and not those currently unattainable wants.

Sometimes when we focus sharply on one, central thing—once we close our eyes and look for the image of that central thing—everything else around it may pop more brightly. Curious. I’ll need to contemplate this.

Appreciation
I thought of the advice of only keeping what brings you joy. If I was to pick a different item in my view each time I did this meditation I would find what does and does not bring me joy and perhaps decluttering would come easier to me. Not the intention necessarily for this meditation but this is what came to mind.

Gazing: A Simple but Effective Mindfulness Exercise
I did not realize how much relaxation I could get out of simply gazing. I like the title of this meditation, ā€œEveryday Mindfulness.ā€ Why? Simply because one can use gazing every single day as both a mindfulness and relaxation technique: What is also nice is that one does not need guided instruction to make this technique work for him. Thanks for teaching me a new concept, Lauren!

Dear diary

Day late
I haven’t really noticed a difference over the last few weeks. It’s relaxing when I do it but I think it’s more of me just taking time out of my day to breath and destress not really meditating and trying to focus on something.

Mindfulnes: the door is always open
It is easy to step out of mindfulness throughout my day. Can it be just as easy to step back into mindfulness presence? It is always there for me. I just have to recognize it and I can walk through the door again. Today’s goal is to notice these moments where I slip out of the present moment and use the tools I have to notice when I do and return myself to a centered fully aware presence. I’ve said this in my head many times. Perhaps writing it down will galvanize this practice into my daily experiences. Practice, practice, practice. Who’s counting anyway?

Everyday Mindfulness
As a teacher I know that I must make a connection with my students to engage them in the learning process. It seems to me that connection is even more important when facilitating meditations. I have learned that being lectured rather than joined on a meditation doesn’t allow me to focus on the meditation.

Tiredness and the feeling of Peace
I woke up this morning, tired and unwilling to start my day. By focusing on the outside object, I was able to push away my thoughts and feelings of tiredness, and brought peace in instead. I'm feeling much more awake now, and I'm happy that I was able to wake myself up a bit.

Everyday mindfulness
This gazing practice really helped me. Just get myself focused and recharged. I feel more calm and my mind feels at peace. It’s always racing and thinking about this that and the other that we forget to stop and give our minds a break and this mindful practice really helped me. Doing Nothing
I noticed I kept trying to fight it without even trying in the beginning. Like she said, once we focused on breathing I started trying to control my breathing since it was what I was focusing on. In the beginning I kept wanting to move my position or move my hands to better rest them. Once I let go completely it wasn’t until the last 30 seconds of the meditation, although I gradually got there as time went by, it was a great feeling! Truly relaxing.

Today is Rememberence day. Where we stand in arms for those who we lost. Where we remember the people who have fought to keep our country’s safe and where we remember service past, present and stand together in unity for our future. To protect those who can not fight, admire those who willing serve and honour those who dare to be extraordinary. I remember my Grandparents and the love they created during the second World War II. How our family United and what we stand for. How my past battles in service remain firmly in place with the people I protect and the many lives that have been lost to violence and oppression. I love my family. I love my Country. I love that in any journey good or bad I will always benefit though learning, understanding and forgiveness. I will be free. I will continue to remain, though strength and compassion, whilst remembering those who do me wrong and understanding that I am above their inability to forgive. I will not forget. I will not apologise. I will not be treated as if I do not matter.
