Listen and recognize emotions
Treat every emotion as a signal to listen to yourself rather than something to avoid. If we are wading in a pool of our emotion, every tinge if anger or panic would cause the water to ripple and move. Ignoring this would be easy, but if you look for and allow yourself to feel the ripple, you can take action to remedy the situation causing it. If you don’t pay attention, that ripple in the water can grow into a wave that might make you stumble. If you listen for and acknowledge these emotions, then they are less likely to overwhelm you or create a tsunami of feeling. With awareness, these feelings can wash past you, allowing you to stand tall and adaptable.
