Today we’re revisiting the Body Scan, whilst adding gratitude. The impact of gratitude on mental health is well-researched; combining it with Body Scans can be powerful, but also challenging. The intention is to ‘lean in’ towards gratitude, rather than force feelings. It’s OK if you don’t notice feelings, and also if emotions emerge, either positive or negative. As best you can, make space for whatever arises, without trying to force things. If you feel overwhelmed, return to a ‘neutral’ anchor point, such as the breath or sounds. This is a long-term process, mindfulness is not a race; you may wish to return to this practice and focus on it for a while before moving on, and returning to it whenever you wish.
