Happy Halloween 10-31-17
I learned to be patient and to trust. And yet, tomorrow is another day (talking about yesterday) I believe in quink-a-dinks. I got a letter that upset me yesterday; however, I just called about it today and everything will be okay and I come on Aura and it gives me this meditation to listen to. I am in the military and I had some medical appts coming up and this morning my brother-n-law came through. So, take a deep breathe, relax, hold on and enjoy. Good day, Aura!

Deriving Joy
This mindfulness exercise reminds me that I can derive joy from every single moment, only if I️ choose to orient my thinking and being around it. Choice making is powerful and I choose God’s intended path of joy.

Back track
It's important to remember and reflect on memories from your regular day. To think about all the nice happy moments and how they made me feel when they were happening and how I am appreciative for that time.

Joy is in the little things
I learned that not everyday has to have a major event that brings happiness into our lives or that great things have to happen fpr us to be happy. Small or even daily life events are just enough to make us smile. The trick is to acknowledge them.

The Little Things
I tend to miss the little positives that happen. Big positives are not frequent, so if I am to become a happier person, it’s the little things that will get me there.

Little things
I tend to pick apart at the little negative things in life. I never sit down and smell the roses or realize the smallest things in life that bring me joy. I’m going to practice this more often. When I’m upset or sad, remember something like finally getting my handstand at yoga tonight, that truly make life so great.

Good things
In astrology, I’m air dominant which means I tend to be more logical and experience things through thoughts and ideas rather than through feelings and reactions. This is a fact that I greatly relate to as I tend to unconsciously overlook my feelings. I feel like this causes me to never really acknowledge or remember when positive things happen. Lately I have been trying to be more sensitive to my feelings and not so detached from emotions so this meditation was great in making me reflect on them. Usually when I do feel and dwell on my emotions they are often the negative ones; I do not want this, I want to be a more optimistic person. This meditation helped me uncover and realise all the good experiences I have had lately, which were surprising very often.

Appreciating little things
It’s not all about the big stuff. In fact maybe less important than the small stuff, for enjoying life.

Dealing with sadness
I’ve learned that even in the moment of sadness, there are still brighter things happening around you and to you. It’s okay to experience these feelings of sadness and being lower on the personal emotional Specturm but it’s also okay to raise above these feelings and see the bigger picture in life. Always see the horizon of life. We will not always been in the Low moment just like we aren’t always in happy moments. You have to learn to be aware of your feelings and what they mean to you and that particular point in your life.

Experiencing moments of joy every day...
I’ve been learning that in my life I put too much focus on “planned moments of joy.” Whether a vacation, special occasion or achieving a hard won goal. While these things are great they come with a higher degree of expectation of experiencing joy and often fall short of what we project the experience will feel like. The sweeter moments I’ve been trying to focus on are the ones that occur every day without forcing them or the expectation that comes with anticipation. Like an uplifting conversation with a friend, cooking and enjoying a nice meal with my family or cuddling with my dogs while I listen to the rain falling outside. Life is not meant to be a series of grey days I just get through for some expected “joyful experience” that always seems to be beyond my grasp. It’s about waking up every morning and setting the intention that I am going to be more aware of the joy each day brings. 😊

Joy & Happiness
We have control over our own joy and happiness. The world didn’t give it so the world can’t take it away. Don’t let someone steal what they didn’t give you in the 1st place! Be blessed knowing your joy & happiness is what you make it!!!

simple pleasures are the best
the gentle nudge of my cat as she settles on my lap the warmth of her vibrating purrs and rhythmic breathing as she naps while I read a hot shower at the end of a long day spent outside in the wintertime the soft texture of flannel sheets under a fluffy down quilt on a cold night the sound of my daughter’s voice singing a brisk morning bike ride through the park laughing so hard my eyes tear doing good work being here now

Patience is truly key
Recently I have been rushing for so much to happen at once and trying to make it happen when I wanted it to was causing a lot more stress. I learned to be patient with the previous gifts of life. I will take my time to get to where I need to be. Because when the time comes I’ll be able to be happy about it. Not stressed out like what now. I’m going to keep working how I am and let things fall into place. I will get the call or email I want and need soon enough.

Flushed with happiness
My mind wandered a little as I began to think about a recent moment which made me happy. I started thinking of a conversation with a dear friend and my body felt peaceful and at ease as I walked across white sand barefoot. At the end of the meditation, my crown chakra was warm and it felt like my body was flushed with happiness. Thank you.

Remembering and Appreciating
I have a habit of dwelling on the things that annoy me and forgetting what delights me. This meditation prompted me to remember and appreciate something that had happened today that could have/would have been overlooked otherwise. My feelings about the day have now improved by changing what I choose to focus on.

Feeling Happy
To recall and meditate on a joyful, recent experience helps me stay in a positive state of mind. I also thought about a "wondering mind" meditation I did yesterday and remembered to address my mind when it wondered then thought to myself, "thinking."

Had to hold a single happy thought 🙂
I started with a single happy memory, but it triggered a host of other memories which totally distracted me from what the teacher was saying. But on the bright side, I feel a lot better!

True Joy
This meditation helped to bring me to a recent thing that creates so much joy for me. I actually ended up crying some from bringing up that joy. I’ve had a lot of hardship the past two years, and some really bright moments. One of those bright moments was making the decision to and following through with going back to school to get a second degree, this time in Physics & Astronomy. I decided to actually fully take advantage of what college offers this time around, and looked into study abroad. I was accepted into a semester program at one of the two schools I’ve always wanted to attend, Oxford University. This has been a lifelong dream of mine. To study at the place Hawking received his undergraduate, the place where J.R.R. Tolkien began his journey with Middle Earth, the place where C.S. Lewis did his as well... it’s an incredible thing. This seemingly small thing (even a semester!) brings me so much joy, and the fact that I have worked hard enough to be able to after spending a while in my classes thinking I wasn’t smart enough for this degree. It’s so special.

This morning I woke up feeling blah. Jiva has you think back to a moment that brought you happiness. A few moments spent with friends popped through my mind which made me smile and lifted my spirits. Happiness resides in yourself
When asked to recall something that reminded me of happiness, my mind automatically latched onto a video I saw sometime back of me smiling. It felt a tad bit cringey and melodramatic at first, but I let it be and I found peace in knowing a time that I was happy and could smile, and being reminded of that moment and that propensity to know happiness maybe just a smile or a laugh away is one that offered me some sort of emotional security.

Calm
I felt calm and remembered even the tiniest things that make me happy. I have always said “Its the little victories that count” and now more than ever is the time for me to remedy that. My heart and mind isn’t racing to make sure I’m doing the right thing to not get in trouble but instead knowing that my intentions are good and I want nothing but positivity for people has given me a since of calm and knowing that being positive can eliminate a lot of overthinking. I LOVE MYSELF. So thankful to GOD for creating me as this beautiful being 🙏🏾

Savoring...
Whichever thoughts we are having in our mind has the capacity to positively or negatively affect our body. In this beautiful meditation, Jiva has us recall and relive pleasant memories which brought us happiness and joy and then we rest and explore how those feelings affect our body. I just finished my very first retreat. Regardless that it was an online retreat, it was such an incredible experience that I will never forget. While there were many memories that brought happiness and joy to my heart, there is one in particular that truly touched my soul. It was the evening of New Year’s Eve and my Sangha or community spread metta or loving kindness to one another while holding candles. Reliving those precious moments I feel the amazing connection I felt with everyone. It truly was a special way to bring in this new year. Allowing that beautiful memory to fade, I introduced another beautiful memory which brought me happiness and joy. Every night when I lay down on my bed to go asleep, my orange tabby cats come over and lay down between my legs and chest. As they purr, I feel their body breathing with mine. It is such a wonderful connection between three beings. After reliving those memories, my heart is filled with a warmth of love and light. As my heart swelled with love and light, my lips formed into a smile. Savoring these beautiful memories, I have immense gratitude for having the opportunity to have had these precious moments in my life. Thank you, Jiva! Namaste 🙏🏻❤️☮️

Enjoying the moments when i do something i love...
I learned that it’s important to be in the moment and take it in gently when I am doing things that I love. I went bike riding the other day and it was chilly out and I ride down a hill and I enjoyed how the cool air went across my face and into my lungs. I felt a little lighter and free. It reminded me of childhood when I felt free.
