Rewriting old tapes
Affirmations play a large part in changing who I believe I am and who I've told myself I can become. I've used positive statements many years to treat PTSD and depression. It's like rewriting old tapes that roll around in my head; telling me I can't do it, I'm worthless, that I'm going to be killed, etc. Tying the meditation practice and positive affirmations together is a practice that I will return to. I'd like more from this teacher, please. There's an opportunity to really help people. Thank you.

What I know
I am so nervous! I have play auditions tomorrow night! I have to be able to do a North Carolina accent for the character I want. I have never acted before, mostly because of lack of confidence. I added the phrase: "May I have confidence in what I do." As I felt it provided some calm in what I don't doubt will be a restless night. I need to remember that the director will only believe in me if I believe in myself. So gosh darn it I will go and I will be great!

This meditation reminded me that I am self confident. The lessons of my life have made me who I am, to know where I have been, and have given me what I know. It’s always a nice reminder to not forget these lessons and to lead my day with this experienced confidence and with openness to gain additional knowledge to dither my growth.

When I opened this section, everything was nice and quiet. But tapping the button for Aura certainly changed that! Suddenly there were people talking loudly, doors slamming, bells ringing, you name it! I couldn’t even hear the meditation, much less concentrate. However, I did notice that I was more amused than annoyed ( not my typical reaction), so I think that even the attempt helped moderate my response! Cool!😎

What I know...
Confidence in what I know is a tough one for me. There is always so much more I don’t yet know and I rarely see things as black and white, but many, many shades of gray. But what I have gleaned along the way has value, as a part of a whole, so I still need to share that with others and encourage them to do the same. Namaste

The lack of confidence can wear you down. It is usually caused by what you fear. Mostly of failure. But this is what you tell yourself that you’re going to fail. Your body reacts to what your body tells you. So in this, I learned that I must tell myself that I shall have confidence in who I am, of where I go, and what I achieve. May confidence be with you.

Not helpful today
Affirmations often feel awkward for me. This one wished confidence on me with no direction on how to get there. It’s going to be a challenging day (and week), and just wishing confidence isn’t making me feel any better going into this day. I feel flat and need to get motivated to accomplish what I must.

My face really hurts and so do my head and neck! I found the meditation validating in a way, on first listen. It's pretty hard to ignore the pain... especially first thing in the AM because I haven't had meds yet. Though it has only been 4 hrs of sleep which is not where I need or want to be.

Building...
Building confidence is an ongoing journey in life. When we are young we gain it by Overcoming Obstacles. But as we get older life’s challenges last longer and we can sometimes feel like they are getting the best of us. This meditation allowed me to soften up and build my confidence on what I already know, where I have already been and who I already am. A nice relief to feel better without having to overcome something. Overall a nice 3min meditation. ❤️👍🏼🍀

I was more in a mood for reassurance, I thought. I did this meditation anyway because I was in an anxiety spiral, and it was much more helpful than I thought. Reflecting on confidence in myself, where I’ve been, and what I know directed me to look at the bigger picture, which help ease some anxiety about my current situation.

It doesn't take much to build confidence. It's pretty easy to build your confidence. But you can lose your confidence just as quickly as you can build it. Just be comfortable with who you are and don't be afraid to take pride in your past accomplishments. But at the same time, don't gloat and never demean or belittle others. Don't let your failures define you either. Stay strong.

I learned that I need to work on trusting myself. I’m always criticizing myself for “not being perfect,” or acting in a way that I perceive as perfect. It’s okay to not wake up at 5 am every morning to workout. It’s okay to switch up the routine. I will get my workout in AND I will get my work done. I always do. I learned that I have a lot of anxiety surrounding “if” I will do something even though I always do it.
