I promised myself I'd briskly walk 2 miles and then meditate this morning before beginning my day. Its my 1st time in years. The power of words
Today's meditation was a simple request to breathe in while thinking the word calm and exhaling the word peace. I thought this a little too generic, but something clicked as I breathed in the calm and exhaled the peace. I wasn't feeling calm or peace I was just repeating words. As I gave meaning and connection to these two concepts I felt as opposed to saying. This brings me back to living mindfully. Autopilot is once again in the off position! 🤙

As always, the meditation helped my locate the point in my head where my migraine was located. It helped me slowly unravel the tension until I had a dull ache instead of a sharp pain. I hope that as I work on these meditations, I will one day be able to completely disable my migraines and find peace.

I often go into things with an expectation of what the experience will be like. This expectation taints my experiences and sometimes (often) prevents me from feeling something new. I either get the same experience as always (because I didn’t allow myself to feel anything differently) or feel disappointed in or confused about my expectation not being met. I need practice silencing my expectations and focusing on just being.

It does what it says it will do. Sometimes you need a breather, then that’s another reason to listen. When you feel upset or really happy that’s not an excuse to not do your daily meditations, just because you are super upset or super tired or forgot. When these things happen hay means it is definitely a time to be doing your meditations, there should not be any excuses if you tell yourself “oh I can skip it just today” imagine how many more times you’ll do that! So don’t let yourself have a ‘pass’ doing meditations WILL help you if you have the right mindset. I know this isn’t on the topic of “calm” this exact meditation but I’ve used the “I’m to upset” excuse to many times to not share my advice with you! If you read all of this I congratulate you not very many people have the right mindset for that!

I learnt that I can use this exercise to calm my mind and body following a busy and stressful day so that I can go to bed feeling happy and at peace, regardless of the day’s events. I also learnt that two simple words such as peace and calm can really help quiet the mind and focus the attention onto positive feelings. I think that this mindfulness experience can be used with other words too, like energetic if you are feeling tired in the morning :)
