Connecting with my body

I'm a little too anxious....
....For a body scan right now lol. I'm not sure what's brought it on this morning but it's there. I think I've been lacking in my practice letting hurts of the past and concerns of the future are sneak in for whatever reason. It's weird because things are going really well lately.

Ive learned that if we can just sit still and just be mindful of the instruction of the leader can make us realize that it is possible to be mindful....feeling of just being there in that moment in time...really precious👏👏👏🙏🏽😇 and very 😎 relaxing

Short but useful
I’ve been working with meditation for some time. These meditations are quite short but I was surprised how different my experience was co pared to when I first started meditating. The meditations are like washing your face for refreshment compared to longer meditations being like a shower or a bath. There is room for both experiences.

Sound in meditation
I learned that when I am doing one of these meditations I become more aware of nature sounds. Like the breeze blowing in the trees, and the migrating geese honking. It is a nice way to feel connected.

Zoloft (sertraline)
My rx is now coming through a delivery service instead of pharmacy and I'm thinking the manufacturer is different. I take it at 9:00 at night and for the past few days, I've been awake around 12/1:00 feeling anxious. Praying this is temporary! Going to start taking it earlier in the evening to see if it helps my sleep (which is already not so good). Anyone experience similar?

Every time I listen to this, I’m always stressed with what’s going on, my grandfather passed, I’m stressed with school, terrorists attacks are happening nearby me. But this just keeps me focused on JUST this. Its so soothing too, you should try it

It is a great challenge to focus on each individual area of the body. Learning to focus our attention more precisely also helps to guard against distraction.

I found in the past that when I ran my hands over the body area I want to scan it helped me visualize the scan inside my mind. So when I visualize this scan I can remember the order and my body parts far better. Then all I focus on now is the sensations in each body part. Depending on my depth of meditation I can feel the energy meridians running down my body. But to get to this state I need a real quiet mind.

Good basic body awareness exercise.
I have often struggled with the important role of the mind/body connection. I tend to be very much in my mind and by nature a very analytical person. In doing so I ignored signals my body was sending that it needed attention and care. My lack of body awareness also made it easy to disregard my emotions as they are housed in our body and without careful attention tended to not to be acknowledged, fully experienced and understood. This over time can lead to a toxic build up that the body will go to even greater lengths in order to be heard. I encourage everyone to become more aware of your body, where difficult emotions tend to take up residence in your body regularly as to deal with life and impact on yourself, in all its forms, as it is occurring.

I recently watched a documentary on people healing themselves from all types of illnesses and pain, by training their minds to let their bodies repair itself. When i do a body scan, i picture new healthy cells forming throughout my entire body inside and out. I can feel myself getting energized by my thoughts. I even taught my kids this practice and the boo boos seem to heal faster! When you truly believe something your mind will believe it as well. If you believe you are sick, you’re gonna feel sick, the same as if you believe you are healthy your body will follow. Smile often and you might find yourself to be in a better mood!

I learned that some days are better than others in all things, including meditation. Today this meditation only reminded me of all the Doctors appointments I need to make in order to keep my body healthy. This is not particularly a bad thing, just not helpful in easing my stress.

I found that as I focused on different parts of my body, the area would automatically relax. I wasn’t trying to relax the areas, it just seemed to happen as my attention was directed towards them. It was relaxation without conscious thought. Wow 😮

As soon as I focus on my breathing It changes 😊. I simply cannot observe my normal breathing since it becomes abnormal as soon as I pay attention to it!
