We don't often deliberately pay attention to the sounds around and within us, allowing ourselves to experience the full richness of our aural environment - and so, that is the invitation for this practice.

This meditation really centered me this morning
This helped with the volume of all the background noise I constantly deal with. Letting go of trying to interpret and just let the sounds be sounds and be in the moment.

Nice!
No cheesy language and perfect t for the noisier environments I am often in. This is a meditation I can do anywhere. :)

Sound awareness
There were sounds in my own home I hadn't recognized until I opened my eyes to identify them...stimuli I hadn't considered in my own environment.

Just listen....
It's amazing what you hear, when you just listen. Without thinking about what it is, the sounds are amplified and crisper. So relaxing....

Forgiveness
Once you know, it is easy to question why it took so long to figure it out. Then guilt sets in. Then shame sets in. Then sorrow sets in. The only way out is forgiveness, compassion, and kindness. With these things, we can be grateful that we know, see and hear now. History cannot be changed. By living in the present we can shape the future.

Canvas of Silence
While sensing all the sounds around me I could also sense the canvas of silence that holds the space for all other sounds. Life is vast and miraculous, and one of those miracles is me.

Love different sounds - but,,,
This was a good session but there are times when I wish I could tune everything out. I have worked in Surgery for 38 years and it is a habit (as I have trained myself) to hear everything. Sometimes, it can be annoying. I do enjoy sounds of nature and find them to be mostly soothing. Thanks. :-)

Sounds
This lesson was really great and calming. I found it as a wonderful way to start my day and become aware of my surroundings without depending on sight. I will use what I've learned for the rest of the day and listen to the sounds while I'm in the city where there are many diverse and unusual sounds. I would recommend this and a relaxing and worthwhile session that made me a better personā¤ļø

Interesting. Sounds are merely vibrations that we choose to pay attention to.
So we can choose to tune out the vibrations that can cause undue stress or worry and focus on the message being related instead.

Sounds
Tuning in to the sounds around us can be very relaxing rather than distracting.

Listen for sounds
I like this because it allowed me to focus on something other than my breath. When i am to focus on my breathing I actually get anxious because it is my breathing and heart rate that go erratic when I’m anxious. So focusing on it isn’t very relaxing for me. But I loved listening for sounds and it slowed my breathing and heartbeat right down. Thank you. .

Thanksgiving
I need to take care of myself and this was spot on because my sister was killed about a month ago and I am having a hard time today. This gave me just what I needed and I will listen every day.

River and Flow
I learned that there are things moving out of my control that I can choose to flow with instead of react against. Trying to guess and control the world might be working against me sometimes. I can believe in the river of consciousness.

Noise
I learned to be at one with noise l, whether it is white noise, my thoughts, my breathing, or sounds within my house.

I want to go back to another meditation!
I can’t figure out how to do that! Trapped in the Sounds thread :(

You don’t need to understand sounds
Just letting my body hear the sounds around me and not trying to process or think about or control them does bring some peace.

Being with Sound
Interesting- our ears are always working but I’ll only notice the sound if I’m listening. I saved this to try again in a noisy situation, especially when the radio or TV is on and I’m frustrated I can’t find any silence to practice. Namaste

Cool Correlation
That sounds ā€œarriveā€ in their own time, just like thoughts, is a really cool insight which helped me be able to look at sounds and ideas a little less judgmentally. My ideas and sounds are both features of the material world; one a rhythm of ether, another a rhythm of mind. And both observed by my true self without judgement.

I love being reminded to pay attention to the little things. I can hear things every day, but do I really listen? I will try to remember to just take in and enjoy my surroundings for what they are. The sound of the wind, or my dog breathing beside me, the sizzling of food as I cook...

Sounds
There are annoying sounds and sounds I like such as the dogs’ breathing and sounds I make. Interesting to isolate them and focus on each one.

Acceptance
I don’t know how to accept myself let alone my unknown feelings or ideas. I don’t know how to process them or what to do with them. They are new and uncharted territory that I am unable to predict. And predictably or dependability some might say a schedule is something that effects me if not in place. As much as I love the unexpected it scares the living crap out of me because I don’t know what to be prepared for.

Filter the Sounds
Reacting to every sound I hear is exhausting and stealing time I don’t have to waste. Focusing and filtering through the noises will help me keep calm and get the most bang for my buck out of my Day.

Sounds Occur Similarly to Our Thoughts.
This meditation for me was amazing. Opening my mind to the auditory experience is a concept I have never taken advantage of in meditation. I’d always tried to eliminate random noise or sound, seeing it as intrusive to successfully meditating. I was so, very wrong. This experience was masterful. Since I am constantly bombarded with an endless choir of thought and imagination, understanding its semblance to sound is groundbreaking. When I find myself in a frenzy of thought, I can simply close my eyes and focus on random sounds that are within auditory range; thus freeing my mind of mental distractions and being able to come away from this meditation with calm and ease as I continue my day.

I like to focus on my breathing. The sounds around me
Especially the fan that goes all of the time. I did not like this one. Maybe it would be better in spring and with the fan turned off!

Focus on sounds
Being with sounds around you and being an observer is very peaceful and relaxing.

It’s funny
We give meaning to the sounds that we hear and as we act upon it we start to give more meaning to the sounds that are just sounds

Sound
Disassociating sound with thought is a lot trickier than it sounds. But for a second, I could do it. Hopefully, it will get easier as time goes on!

Except when I use sound to help me get to sleep, I almost always react to sound. This will be an interesting practice to carry forward, just listening to sound without reacting.

Being with Sound
I felt relaxed and focused. I feel like I can focus on more than just what’s happening in front of me. I can focus on the sound and only the sound.

Sounds
The sounds around us can bring us to a place of memories, beginnings and ideas. Sounds and smells can bring me back to some of my greatest memories and can also make me feel happy or sad. Either way sounds are a great way to interpret life differently.

Sounds
Even when there are no outside sounds to process, the quietness in my head was a force to be reckoned with when trying to be mindful. I was more successful with that quiet than I’ve been thus far. Practice...practice!!

TRUSTING my SENSES
I learned that I need to begin to trust in my senses more to ease and slow my powerful anxious mind. My ears šŸ‘‚šŸ¼, eyes šŸ‘€, nose šŸ‘ƒšŸ¼, and sense of touch are ALWAYS working and I am grateful for that so I need to allow for them to work and bring awareness to my senses to slow my mind and bring it back to the present to fully be mindful. Anticipating Pizza
streaming hot in the box the aroma filled the interior of our car it was all I could do to keep my hands on the wheel and continue driving I just wanted to pull over and tear into a piece, the stringy cheese pulling away with the lightly dusted golden brown crust leaving a powdery residue on my fingers... ā€œYummm...ā€ she said, reading my mind ā€œAnticipation, delayed gratification...ā€ I said, pulling into the driveway. I shut the engine off. My daughter unbuckled herself. ā€œDad, can please bring my backpack?ā€ Without waiting for an answer she grabbed the green and red rectangular cardboard and bolted from our car...

Awareness of Sound
This meditation makes us aware of sounds around us. We do not when or where sound is going to appear, the frequency of the sound or how loud the sound may be. Therefore, sounds are a lot like our thoughts. They just appear. We often take for granted our ability to hear. This meditation will give you gratitude for your ears. During this meditation, I heard birds chirping, wind gently blowing the wind chimes and the leaves on the trees. It is relaxing to listen to sounds in your surroundings and just be in the present moment. Namaste! šŸ™šŸ»
