An important part of sleeping well at night is winding down before we get into bed. This meditation helps prepare you for sleep: slow down, activate the relaxation response, review your day, and practice gratitude. Leaving you ready to get into bed and transition to deep, restful sleep.

Goodnight! 😓
It’s important to find stillness and remember the happy little moments instead of stressing about things that may have gone wrong during your day. To find peace within those good moments and to let go of any negative feelings or thoughts before bed that would keep you up tossing and turning. Namaste šŸ™šŸ» and may you all have a peaceful rest. šŸ’œ

Shutting the mind off...
Shutting the mind off before bed is a lot harder than it used to be. In turn it leads to not getting a restful sleep and thus I’m cranky and reaching for the coffee first thing. My goal over the next 6 weeks is to get meditation done throughout the day and sleep better. This mediation allowed me to shut down for that little bit. Here’s to a restful sleep.

Day 18
For once I felt good, for once I actually was having a great day, just going back looking what I did today. I really felt amazing and happy for no reason I felt alive and well. Like I did not overthink things or think about something to much. It’s an amazing feeling

Reflecting Before Releasing
Usually looking back on the day is what keeps me awake. This allowed me to relive my day and put positive focus on moments instead of the usual negativity bias. It encourages reflection and good sleep hygiene to reset before bed, and gratitude for the day instead of stress, preparing to fully rest.

Relax and review my day
Sometimes that makes my mind race with all the turmoil and activities of the day, but if I combine it with breath and let my mind wanderings move over just what went right with the day and what I’m thankful occurred within that day it brings on a sense of well being and hope for the day ahead. Namaste

Awash
My mind was awash like the detritus on the shore after a wild storm. My memories battered at my skull, flickering in and out, vivid colours and scenes chased each other, darting around and around, avoiding settling on anyone view. Breathe, slow it down, sleep is near, the warmth of my loved one cuddled into me, safe, secure and loved. Sssshhhh dear heart, eyelids blinking shut, breathing slow ... sleep, dream the dreams of joy and peace.

Importance of winding down
After doing this Bed Time Prep for the first time, I immediately felt calmer and more relaxed than before. It’s important to take a moment and wind down by reflecting on the day that has passed. Moments you enjoyed, things you were grafetul for that day, things that made you smile oe things you did that made others smile,... Winding down after a day really helps to let go of the waking state and make the transition to the sleeping state easier and more effective (not my words but I found them perfect to describe this)

Relaxation and Appreciation
I learned that every day when you end your day, you think of negative thinks you dwelled on, and then remember the good times where you felt thankfulness. I had a hard day; Almost lost my best friend. This made me smile, remembering the moments after we talked where we just sat and laughed for a long time. Tomorrow I think I’ll give her a hug. I’ve always appreciated her. Now more than ever. I loved this.

Bed Time Prep šŸ›ŒšŸ˜“
I learned that it is vital after a long day to slowly wind down and get our minds and bodies ready for bed so that we can prepare and have a great night sleep. Great way to end the day to acknowledge and reflect on the day we had and be grateful for the day we had and all the little things that made up our day, they are all bonuses but we are so grateful for them as well good and bad. With everyday there is always something to be grateful for and a lesson we can take. We should reflect and be proud of ourselves and what we accomplished. This is such a great mediation to help us breath, reflect and recharge. I am forever grateful for this day and this mediation. I am fully ready for bed and to have a great nights sleep. 😌

What I realized
When she said to reflect on the normal encounters of the day, my brain natural just started running through everything that had happened that day and started to analyze it. When she said to bring your attention back to your breathing, I really did have to actively make an effort to focus on the now and not what had happened. This is something that I usually couldn’t do while meditating before. In previous sessions I’ve found it difficult to fully transition between the two places, so now I feel pretty accomplished!

Reviewing the day
This practice offered a chance to review the day just accomplished as I head into sleep. Went out early with my wife to accomplish some banking needs. Then grabbed coffee together. Then went grocery shopping to round out tonight’s dinner meal. Sent the eldest child off to spend the night with my mother and help with a yard sale tomorrow. Then dropped middle child, son Zachary, off at the local mall to play cards with some of his oldest friends...mostly boys who were in my cub scout den when they were young. Not a terrible day overall. Found out that several family members from New Zealand will be visiting in a few weeks, affording us a chance to gather with my wife’s extended family at her aunt and uncle’s ranch in Pismo Beach, CA! Very much looking forward to that! It’s a beautiful sprawling property in the hills above the famous beach city, where concerts and big beautiful weddings are held regularly! We’ll enjoy our famous ā€œSanta Maria Style BBQā€ and visit with her LARGE family...and NOT for a sad reason like the last several gatherings around funerals for Great Aunt Madeline, or tragically young Cousin Ryan, lost to an aggressive rare cancer just about a year ago, cutting short a very promising professional baseball career. 🄺 So good night Aura tribe, wherever you're! Make it a great weekend! Namaste!

Not well...
I have done this before and found it helpful. That was a while ago however and couldn’t remember what it was like, so I thought I would give it a listen again as a reminder after a few nights of insomnia. This however perhaps wasn’t the best choice for me today, as to reflect on my day and acknowledge something that I did well: it wasn’t possible for me. I simply existed in a daze today. Then I was thinking about that and struggled to find meaningful gratitude in the moment. So now to find another meditation to refocus and find positivity and gratitude for something... even just this app and food in the cupboards. I know I do have plenty to be grateful for, just somehow in the moment and the way my mind responded to this meditation I felt like I failed. I do not intend to try and sleep now in that mindset. I will have to remember in future this is perhaps better to use to ready for bed after a productive day!

I’ve not been able to go to sleep for about 1 month.
I don’t know why I can’t get to sleep. Usually, my heads rests on my pillow and sleep comes within minutes, but not recently.

Calming
Thinking over the day helped me. I was able to think of the ordinary things and also the special things of the day and I liked that. Not only did I feel emotions in the moments of those ordinary moments but then I was able to reflect on it and really talk stock of what happened and how it all makes me feel as a whole. I’m thankful!

Bed time
I noticed that I feel much more calm and present now after this exercise. I had some trouble remembering the ordinary things - but then thought of the stars while I was in the pool, playing with the cat, and the sound of running water by the cat’s water fountain.

Helpful
Loved the emphasis on things I did right as I tend to focus on stuff that didn’t get done or what went wrong. Will use this again! Thank you!

AThankful note to Aura
This app is has so soothing effect on my mind and soul that I feel anxious if I’m delaying my sleep for some reason. I just learned how to enjoy a sound sleep and how to manage my calm attitude in my daily routine along with some positive energy that aura inculcated in meā¤ļø

Reviewing day not helpful.
Reviewing my day caused me more stress than helping to wind down.

Couldn’t Clear
I couldn’t clear my mind enough to get into a meditative state before bed but it was very calming enough for me to be grateful for my day and hopefully get some good sleep.

This is an awful approach to relaxing at night
Had a stressful day today... telling me to think about all those things that happened today is not helpful.

My internal voice
Tonight I noticed that in spite of having a strong gratitude practice throughout the day, that I am quite critical of myself. When she said to start by noticing all the things I did well today, my mind often went to things I didn’t feel good about instead.
