The anxiety of my 17-yr old client was over the top. The stress of always needing to do her best; and to compete with her peers in school and in sport, took its toll on her body. She was diagnosed with a bleeding ulcer. Ignoring the cues of your body is one form of not being honest with yourself. We all do this, including telling ourselves what we want to believe in hopes that it will be true. Your honesty frees you to live self-aware and awake. How is honesty an important part of your authentic happiness? Join me in the episode of 'Therapy Best Practices'. Have a Therapy Question for Me? Send me a note here on AURA or send me an email: mail@dorothyratusny.com I would love to answer your questions here!

Dearest Dorothy
You ALWAYS speak truth. I HEAR you. I am so grateful that although I am unable to be a client at this time, and your fees are incredibly REASONABLE; youโ€™ve provided these wonderful theory sessions. With love and respect for a wonderful teacher, Judith O.

I needed to hear this!
i realized that, as a person who also suppresses her feelings, i HAVE TO take a good lesson from this client's story

Lying to myself is devastating and Iโ€™ve been doing it for decades.๐Ÿซค
I donโ€™t know how to go back and fix all the self harm Iโ€™ve done, but I need to do better moving forward.

Being honest
I definitely have things I need to examine and deal with. I don't really want to delve deeply into them but I learned that I must. On order to live at my highest inner being.

Honest feelings
I've not been honest with myself. Making excuses, suppressing my inner voice. What do I really feel?

Parenting young adults
I have a bad habit of not being honest with myself when it comes to the things I do when I feel like less of a parent. I take too much responsibility for my kids behaviors when I need to learn how to separate their actions and choices from what I have taught them over the years. If I am to get past the anxiety that I end up with by blaming myself for everything that they do, then I will never find solace in my own life.
