Inner self compassion= relief
Let me start off by saying- I was in the beginnings of a full blown panic attack. Way beyond the point of baseline anxiety. I pulled myself out of it. By reassuring the inner small child in me, I reassured the 29 year old myself panicking. Self compassion and looking at yourself from an outside perspective really truly helps to ground yourself away from the piles of thoughts from fear. Definitely using this again!
This is the first time I’ve been instructed to imagine myself in this way and offer that comfort. It was exactly what I needed.
My small self
When Elizabeth guides you to say something comforting to your “inner child’ (my small self), was the first time I’ve done that. In my mind, I could see my first grade self, which is when I believe the anxiety started. It was incredibly healing to let that part of me know, I’m safe.
