Metaphors give us perspective; they're central to how we understand the world. They help us to reason and understand what's around us. They’re also illuminating, helping us to see things in a more helpful way. They provide new insight and can change the way we relate to certain things. The Hands As Thoughts metaphor is a combination of both metaphor and an exercise. It’s an active depiction of being caught up by our thoughts, and then seeing them for what they are, just thoughts.
