You cannot stop the waves, but you can learn to surf. Similarly you cannot control your feelings, but you can learn to manage them. We only want pleasant feelings and don't want unpleasant. But both approaches are wrong. We can learn to accept feelings just the way they are. Feelings come and go, they are never permanent. Therefore, you can learn to let go eventually.
