A Mystery From The 1890s With Music

This is a mystery, set and written in the late 1890s. In this story, the author takes us on a strange journey. A beautiful stranger leaves a card on the table of our protagonist, Richard Burwell. He's an American businessman in Paris. Sadly, he is unable to read what it says. As he does his best to find a French speaker who can translate, it seems the card's message is so offensive that the French speakers don't dare tell him what it means! Poor Burwell keeps getting into trouble each time he tries to get someone to tell him what the card says.
