There are several reasons why taking a single deep breath - or several - is helpful and has proven benefits. Here are the top five reasons why it serves you well to take several conscious deep breaths - whenever you can - and as often as you can.

Conscious deep breathing & focused meditation
Conscious deep breathing helps improve memory. It is something I’ve been concerned about recently & I will implement a deep breathing practice (at least 4 minutes) in my daily routine 3x/day to monitor for improved memory.

This was an interesting session. She only mentions 4 reasons unless I missed one? Deep Breathing Benefits: -Present Moment Awareness- It brings your focus back to the present moment. Reduce and alleviate anxiety- Activates the parasympathetic nervous system. Improve Brain Focus- Take several deep breaths when your brain is feeling scattered. Dorothy does explain more about the positive benefits deep breathing has on our brain. Natural Pain Relief- A lot of muscle aches and pains is due to tension in the body. One benefit I have noticed is more endurance while exercising. I am able to push my body a lot harder now than when I was in my 20’s.
