177 Hz is a Solfeggio frequency known to reduce stress and alleviate pain. Here, we use a binaural beat of 4 Hz, with a carrier tone of 174 Hz. While binaural beats do not entrain to specific frequencies, they do synchronize the brain hemispheres, as it takes both sides of the brain to produce a single beat. They are hypnotic to listen to. Binaural beats are more pronounced when a background of noise is used, so we use a soothing brown noise.
