It’s not about empty or full.. it’s letting go. It does more damage to hold on to something, anything for more than a moment.

How heavy is your glass
I learned that in life holding onto something that stresses you will cause it to become heavy and hurt you more than it should.

Bread
Life is much like bread. It will eventually go stale and start to rot, and it is your duty to throw that bread in the bin when the time comes. Not continue to eat it just cuz it’s there.

WEIGHT OF WATER

Stress
I heard a new way to tangibly illustrate the effects of stress on us. This perspective gave me another way to understand and relate to just how heavy holding on to our burdens can become. Forgive, let go and renew. All part of remembering who you really are and what you are here to do. Every moment of every day is a chance to choose differently.

Weight of water
This story is a great illustration of how stressful thoughts can weigh us down-I know for me I have done exactly what she was saying-carrying the stressful thoughts with me on & on-& it does weigh me down. Put down the stressful thoughts like you put down a glass of water. I am definitely saving this story as a reminder for myself to let go of thoughts that are not helpful.

Mind set
I learned that life is like holding a glass of water. It may be easy or light, but over time it gets heavier or harder to hold on to. You have to learn to deal or to manage the weight of your problems and deal with them.

Reflection
I learned that it is important to let go of things that trouble me. It’s not the weight of what happens to burdens my thoughts but rather the weight from carrying around the thing/things that troubled me.

Weight of Water
I learned that life is like a glass of water. That holding on to stress, sadness, pain, problems, etc for a short time isn’t that bad. Now if you hold it for a long time you get tired and wore out and even feel numb. You need to “drop” your weight and move on. It’s not worth the pain.
M

May your burdens be easily discarded, your joys ever lasting and your purpose be true. Live your days with the knowledge that we are not born with troubles but we accumulate them. Letting it go..
I feel so much better and learned that holding on to your issues does nothing but cause you more pain. So instead of holding onto problems either solve them or if there’s no solution let it go. This story actually helped a lot with my anxiety right now because it made my mind realize that everything going in all of my small issues I feel matter don’t. In ten years from now I won’t even remember them because it wasn’t an issue I needed to care about so remember just let it go!

Weight of water
Let go of your stress and your worry. Your quality of life depends on it. The stress will increase over time if you let it. Instead put it down, get on your mat and just breathe it away while meditating. Instead focus on yourself. You are worth the effort. There is only one of you on this earth. Do not squander your life away by letting the stress rule you!

I liked that story because the speaker had a nice, calming tone of voice and the story was happy.
It had a good message to it and I think it was saying to me that I need to let go of my stress because soon it will take over me and I do believe that can happen so this was a nice, calming reminder. :)

Knowledge
I learned that if you hold onto your thoughts it will create a weight, just like when you are holding your arms up for a while. If you pay attention and feed into your demons then they will not shrink, but grow, it’s like muscle growth, if you keep exercising those thoughts. Then they will grow stronger, larger in quantity and bigger in size. Overall, if you neglect those thoughts they will shrink, if you pay attention to those thoughts they will grow worse and worse, the prime example being a glass of water and it’s weight.
G
Guadalupe
It was great
I loved the metaphor about the glass, I am now thinking in a different perspective than I was four minutes ago. How you can control and let go worries to feel better and full. The problems are the weight of the glass, but it doesn’t matter if it is 5 ounces more or less, if you carry them on your back for long, it will end up hurting.

Truth
Stress comes In many forms. How we deal with it is all that matters in the end, life brings out the best and even the worst in us, it’s human nature to worry and try to change things we know we have no control over. At one point in this path we call life, we must let go , and realize that all the worrying and things we have no control over only serve to weigh us down. Let go, and take each minute as Thoe it was our last. Enjoy the path it’s not a race after all.

Let it go
“The cold never bothered me any way.” The point this story tries to relay to listeners on how you can just “put the glass down” is difficult for me. I’m very familiar with the competition in this world. The stress alone is difficult to deal with so when we try to not carry our stress there’s a danger of forgetting or becoming oblivious. So what if your stress is based off being worried that you’re not worrying enough?

Session 6
I acknowledge that stress is a slow burn toxicity. The longer you hold on to negative thoughts, the more it/they embed(s) itself/themselves into your psyche. And the more you allow that to happen the more miserable and drained you become. The best thing is to just “LET GO” of certain things especially if they are related to or if they are the root of the “stressors”. Try to let go, but don’t give up control.
J
Jasmine
Stress
Stress is a weight you carry. You can deal with your problems right there and feel all of the emotions you are supposed to feel. Or you can carry it and continue to worry about it, which will never solve the problem.

Afterthoughts.
I was listening to this as I glazed over the images in José Roosevelt’s art book and it was interesting. This is one of those things that I won’t forget. “The weight doesn’t matter to me” and when there was mention of “...how long you hold the cup changes how heavy it may feel but the true weight of the cup never changes...” it was kind of a revelation. I never thought of stress in that sort of way. I should tell my friends this story one day. My question now is: how do I let this cup down gently?

Put it down!
Great lesson! I learned that stress is like holding a glass of water. While the weight of the glass doesn’t change, the length of time we hold on to it makes it feel like it is heavy and can even make us numb. Stress happens, but we can either reflect on it and let it go or hold on to it until we are numb. I choose to put it down!

Weight of Water: Review
I learned that you shouldn’t hold onto your stresses. You should instead, try to focus on other things because, if all you think about, are the things that stress you out, you will be overcome by that stress. So just take some time to breathe and it will all work itself out. :)

Weight of My World
This story goes into gives an interesting twist on the glass of water question. And I get the reason for this twist: instead of focusing on how much of something is in a person’s life, we should focus on whether or not we truly want to hang on to something. Honestly this story has given me an idea for a spell that deals with cutting negativity out of my mind and life. This is definitely a story I’ll carry for the rest of my life.

Stressors so light
I learned in that story that I shouldn’t stress so much... I need to let go and just do me. I have to be happy while I can and not let the negative get to me. I realized my stressors were just like the glass of water, light. Just put it down and move on.

I learned
Your stress can only control you if you allow it to. It doesn’t force itself onto you or barge in without you allowing it to, so you have to learn to separate yourself from it and turn it off. Just like you’d set down the water and not allow it to make you ache.

Letting Go
After listening to this story, I definitely gained a new perspective on what it means to let go and what it does to the mind, body and soul. I’ve always believed that letting go of negative thoughts or feelings or stressors is good for you. This is what I’ve told to people who feel like maybe they’re a bit overwhelmed. I never practiced this myself oddly enough. The more you hold on to something, the more it’ll affect you. Whenever I’m feeling anxious or stressed out, I find myself attempting to deal with it but it never really goes away. And then I feel more anxious and more stressed and then I begin to physically and mentally feel different. I’m angry but want to cry. I ache but I want to move. This story helped me to take the time and say “you know what, the longer you hold on to something, the more it’ll consume you and affect you.” It’s okay to let things go, even if it is to the side for another time. You can’t think with a clear mind if you’re distracted by something that is overwhelming for you.

Hit home
This story hit home! I’ve carried the same worries that don’t tell me much other than stressing me out and keep me from enjoying the time I’m spending with those I love. Stress relief
I have listened to this story several times. It is a great reminder when needed. Stress has made me physically ill from time to time, because I have allowed it. With the strong stressors I have in life, including an extremely ill daughter, a toll is often taken on my own health. I need to be reminded of the weight of the stress and this wonderful story helps me to remember to put it by the wayside at the end of my day. Not only do I sleep more soundly but I awaken much more capable of handling the upcoming day in a much healthier and happier mood, which is good for all. I listen to this frequently.

Loved this
I find that I go to bed with the exact same stressors every day and then wake up with them as well, carrying them around all day in my mind, thinking and talking about them, and letting them frustrate me to the point my head is hurting (literally). This analogy was awesome, and put into perspective just how much I need to set my own heavy cup of water down for a while sometimes.

Weight of water
This is a good reminder not to hold onto worries or things that annoy you. When something really bothered me, I used to say, “The more I think about that, the madder I get!” One day, a wise friend replied, “Then, don’t think about it!” I was speechless at the time. The thought had never occurred to me to make it easy on myself and just put it out of my mind. Sometimes, I still forget, so I’m happy with this story as a new reminder.

Let go and move forward

I really enjoyed this one. It helps me understand why something that seems so small can ultimately weigh me down. Now for the tough part... figuring out how to put the glass down when it seems to be glued to my hand... I can’t seem to be able to let my stresses go, and they just build and build. I try meditation, yoga, etc., and I’m relaxed during and maybe a few minutes afterwards, but then it all comes rushing back. I guess I need to keep practicing...

Glad I listened to this story again. It’s very easy to carry things around in your mind for much longer than is good for you. Often, I think, the stuff we spend lots of time worrying about either never happens or is not nearly as important as we thought. When it’s something very important, it’s a good idea to set it down before the weight wears us down so much we can’t cope or help.

A Familiar Story; A Timely Reminder
I have heard of this story many times before. While I cannot exactly say I learnt something new and gained refreshing profound insight, it doesn't hurt too much to listen to this familiar story, again and again. This is a timely reminder for me (and for anyone) who, leading a stressful life, is gently reminded that taking a brief break to smell the roses from the constant burden you carry on better than none at all. A sweet metaphor, using the weight of water as an analogy for the burden one bears.

The Weight of Water
To me, this story is so similar to the tale of two wolves. It comes back to what you feed or give attention to. If you keep feeding into your worries they take over, if you starve them they’ll go away. Simple as that, look ahead, put your energy into things that move your forward

The weight of water
this was a valuable lesson but somehow it made me feel sad which wasn't the intention but I can't help but feel sorrow for sll the times I've held onto my worries for too long, paralyzed by them instead of taking action in order to ending my stress. Now that I am more aware of this behaviour I'll try to change it in the future.

Worthy rerun
I listened to this story 6 months ago, but had a poor day today and was looking for an evening session to help me get beyond the anger I'm feeling toward the day. It was a poor one. Couldn't resolve a banking issue today, which was VERY important to me. Then an afternoon meeting for my daughter’s school LEGO robotics team went poorly because the district superintendent had given our makerspace/robotics lab over to unassociated meetings for school staff. We squeezed into a classroom where the meeting went VERY poorly due to lack of space. I NEED to let go of these stresses before they overwhelm me...I didn't quickly enough though and ended up losing my temper with my two teenaged kids! Which in turn upset my wife (NEVER a good position to find myself in! 😳😂)

Many problems are temporary
Yes, the glass of water weighs the same no matter how long you hold it. The key then is finding a way to share heavier burdens or to let it go and not get too upset by temporary problems—which is actually most of them.

stress versus sick
This story teaches what to do about stress or worries and it's very instructive. However, this morning I felt (or rather was/am!) sick and there's no button for that. The emotions associated with illness might initially be frustration and a dislike of physically feeling this way. Something negative. After the initial frustration though I try to transition to acceptance and just do my best with it.

Weighing in
A lovely story that reminds me that it’s okay to acknowledge something and then set it down, set it aside or let it go. We don’t have to anxiously or fearfully hold on to things. When we do hold onto those anxiety producing thoughts rather than simply having the emotion weigh in, it becomes a burden. Just like a railroad car, I can wave at the emotion as I watch it pass by.

The longer you hold it...
Although I’ve heard this before, I couldn’t have listened to it again at a better time than now. Lately, I’ve been allowing my stress and anxiety about my future get the better of me. Sleepless nights, a mind filled with white noise, jumpiness, I’ve experienced many things. One of my biggest goals of this year is to try and get a better grip on how I react to things, people, situations, thoughts. Exactly as the lady said, the longer you hold it (it being anything that has the capability of rendering you completely and utterly exhausted- mentally and physically), the heavier it gets. And at your weakest moment, everything will drop like a time bomb. This lesson is very important. Being in control of what you let affect your state of mind can greatly improve your responses to everything happening in or around you. If you are able to operate and go about your daily tasks with a clean, calm mind, you are able to stay happier and perform a lot better. This story taught me to take a step back at the end of each day. To unload all my worries and troubles of the day. It taught me to go to bed as a new person so that when I wake up the following morning, I can start over with a fresh mind. I aspire to master this practice of letting go because it will, for sure, benefit me greatly in the long run.

You know how when you’re holding something light, you don’t realize it’s heavy until you start to think about it? Well I think that is how I am with my anxiety and stress.. When I am around people and I am occupied I don’t even think twice about.. but this story really made me realize how much of a burden it really is.

This short story really hit home for me. God and the universe always finds ways to send me messages that pertain to whatever I am dealing with at the moment and it feels great. From this short story I’ve learned that it’s okay to be sad, down, stressed etc but only for a moment. We should never carry our issues with us. Learn to feel and then let go of those negative emotions bc the longer you hold onto them the heavier they become and eventually it’ll break us! This was a beautiful message! Thank you God and Universe for this! ✨🌻❤️🙏🏽

I learned from a simple but accurate analogy that if I don’t let go of my stress I will brake and it I must learn to let go because stress is only over powering when you hang onto it for too long. Thoughts on the weight of water
I have learned that stress can impact so much. Starting small. Focus in school, home and sports. Then in sleep. And the worst, your relationships with friends and family. I think so much about the things stressing me out that it keeps me awake. Writing something simple like this, trying to find the best way to put my words stress me out. I am always stressed somehow. This makes me realize how important it is to stay calm and relax more often.

Don’t let things burden you for a long time. Take the time each day to deal with issues or realize they are not as worth worrying about as you might’ve thought, and try to leave the stress of each day in that day and not carry it with you to tomorrow. The longer you hold things with you, the heavier they will seem.

Weight of Water
I realize how powerful this is to me. I seem to carry the weight of others, and I never mean to. I want to make everyone else’s shoulders lighter while mine continue to get heavier. It’s hard to put that glass down. No matter how hard I hold it up for myself, and everyone else, I refuse to put it down. And it’s been like this for many years. I realize now that sometimes I need a break and need to set that glass down or my whole body will subside to the cramping and the pain.

Constantly holding on to things
I find myself always holding on to my stress, and the stress of others. I carry it for a long time, and sure, I might forget about it after some time. However, it always creeps back, causing me sadness and stress again, like I never truly forgot. Hopefully I can work to let things go.

Unknown
I’m completely oblivious to my own feelings; I don’t feel anything I can’t even show my inner feelings because I’m afraid it’ll effect the people around me. I get tired of acting as a human when I don’t even feel like one. I want to know how to care for myself as much as the ones I love. I put on a face everyday just so that I don’t have to bring worry upon my friends. They ask me are you ok and I just say yea and because I’m use to the whole “toughen up “ thing and it’s been a motto my whole life-I’ve grown accustom to it.

Weight of water
I realized, as long as I hold onto that that brings me stress, it distracts me from finding solutions. The move I clinge to the problems and issues at hand the less I have to solve them. It's not to say that I do not acknowledge them, yet to not dwell more than needed. Be aware indeed and acknowledge the stressful situations, and then pursue results, change, and resolutions for it.

Letting go
I learned that even if you want something that you think is what you want or even need that if you can’t get it or have it’s better to move on than to “hold on to the glass” and wait for something that may never come because who knows you find something even better out there in the vast world we call earth

reflection: the weight of water
it is my choice what stresses i let into my life. i choose to be happy and make things work the way i want them to. i will follow my values of integrity, servanthood, innovation, and hard work. i will not let trivial matters weigh me down, for i know they will not matter. the universe does not punish failures and wrong decisions the way we may think it does. over time, our decisions and what happens to us will even out; we will end up where we are meant to be. today, i choose to be happy, healthy, and at peace - at peace with my body, my self-worth, my abilities, my situation, my successes, my failures, my world.

Don’t hold on🗣
The thing I learned from this session was that we should not hold onto anything which might even harm us a lil bit. Be it a grudge against someone, fear of doing something, stress, anxiety.. Let go of it, doesn’t matter how big you are/how able you are. The longer you hold onto these things, the more this “lil bit” will harm you, the weight of it will remain the same but the harm it will cause will keep on increasing..

Memories
I have held onto painful experiences for years now. I let my mind relive them; causing stress and heartache. Reliving these traumas only makes me weaker. It makes me feel unable to trust the ones in my life who I love, and who love me. It makes it hard for me to love myself fully. The glasses of these experiences must be put down. I must let go. I always come back around to ask “how do you fully let go?” I will learn. And I will do. Lovely meditation thank you 🧘‍♀️

Anything you carry around for a while starts to weigh down on you gradually. You don't acknowledge it until you feel the stress it is brings on you. It feels like a heavy backpack with so much stuff in it; some of it is stuff you need, some of it is garbage you saved up and need to throw out, and a very small percentage of it is stuff that doesn't even belong to you. Carry less baggage and don't let it get to a point where cleaning it out is too overwhelming.

I felt more relaxed, but still wish I was less tight and more of letting go of things.
I learned when I wake up and still have the stress of yesterday that it would be that time to put the glass down because if you don’t then nothing will change.

Work in Progress
This is a great perspective and sound advice, although I struggle with how to actually do it. Releasing years of anxiety, worry and regret is not as easy as simply “letting go” or putting down a glass. I am working towards this and hope to find the answer some day. How? I will keep going.

Burdens and responsibilities, no matter how light, can weight on me. It good to take a few minutes each day to release from them. Namaste

Weight of Water
I learned that we must not hold on to the worries or fears of yesterday’s problems. We just let them go! Do not let stress or worry eat you up and do not let it linger in you for a long time feel it and deal with it for a while and then release it.. holding on to it for a long time only hurts us and effects our body and our health. It does nothing good for us. Just like the metaphor with the glass of water and how much it weighed. If you hold it for a short amount of time it’s light but if you hold it for a day or weeks you will become numb and ache. Your hand will be tired.. the same goes for us in life with stress and worry. They are inevitable but it’s all how we deal and cope with it. This was such a great mediation. Such a great reminder for me 🧘🏼‍♀️

Gravity
We weren’t meant to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders, the weight of the worries in our life or the life of someone else. Each day and even each hour, we need to let go of those burdens, humbly giving them over to the one who can bear the weight. Today I realize how I am carrying a great deal of tension physically because of relational stress in my life. And that I need to let it all go. Otherwise the weight will become so great that it forces me to drop the glass.

Reminder
To let go of all my worries and stress once in awhile so that my brain doesn’t get too tired. Remember that the weight of the stress and worries doesn’t tend to change. What changes is our ability and strength to hold up these problems and stress. Sometimes the “glass” needs to be “set down” to give myself a break.

The Weight of my Stress
This was a lot better than I expected, I’m someone who holds on to stress, anxiety, anger, grudges for so long I never consider the weight that all bears down on me. Most days I’m exhausted or sore or just worn down. Given that stress can drastically affect you physically it’s probably the reason I’m so tired by the end of the day.

Emotion, doc 1.
My realization that the one person I can say that I’ve truly loved differently, and still do, must potentially be let go. I feel as if my mental maturity has grown beyond hers, but not in the sense that she isn’t mature. She is. She is possibly the most mature person I know. But I believe that I hold a love for her that she’s never felt for me and never will. It’s something I must accept, but I feel broken leaving behind someone I consider my soulmate and greatest person I’ve ever known.

I learned that if you keep all of the stress and anger in you grasp, you’ll end up breaking down. For example, with the water and the glass, if you hold it for... a day your arm will cramp up causing you to drop it. So I need to learn to take small physical of mental breaks throughout the day so I don’t have a mental breakdown. I feel very relaxed now that I listened to that recording. Extra tip: when writing don’t think about grammar or spelling, just jot down what you learned or how you feel.

Why do people change their minds
I learned that people change their mind for a number of reasons. Whether you want them to or not. For a short period or long period. It depends on the change, decision making as a human can be so hard at times but if you have the right people around you, there’s always going to be a good day or a good moment. But the thing about moments is, you’ll miss them, they’ll walk right by you, if you keep chasing after the next one.

Putting the glass down
I learned that I need to forget about him. He does me no good. We are not meant for each other and that was known a long time ago. But I kept holding on,fighting. But it didn’t work,It did worse. It broke me even more. I should focus on who really wants me and who will treat me right. One that I will be happy living the rest of my life with. Or maybe it’s to soon to think about this. I need to find the right moment. All I need to focus on right now, is putting down that glass.

Weight of water
Our anxiety and stress is a lot like holding water. If we keep holding it, it will get heavy and our body will cramp up. We have to put it down. I don’t feel I have a lot of anxiety or stress but I do have like stress with my business when it does not go right, or I’m late and maybe it’s important I get there on time. Ashleigh takes on stress mostly with money cause it’s not being fixed right away. I don’t hold that stress unless she picks at it. I guess I know money has an opportunity to be fixed. I like the message a lot and probably will chew on that for a bit.

Seeking to Learn

The world on your shoulders
Now more then ever, young adults are put in a constant state of fight-or-flight that we forget to analyze our surroundings and truly see what all that weight on our shoulders is doing to us both mentally and physically. Our worst enemy is most often ourselves, the ones who add more and more weight on to ourselves as we go along the journey of life but we must stop and let go of the weight that hinders us for ourselves to ever move forward.
B

More thought of stress, more weights
I learned that the more I think about my stress the more it weighs on me. After listening to this, I understand why I’ve been numb to some things and why my body just want to give up. Until we drop it
What a beautiful analogy. And it came right on the spot. I an working on a presentation about draining emotions and what causes them. I think i just learned that clammering around a problem created more of it. Just because we are trained to believe that physical action changes everything. And i also understand how we learn that. If i prefer to have an object moved I use my hands to move it. Physical is tangible and therefore quite compellingly in its way to teach us. But there is more to learn. And to let go as well.

Carrying Weight
The relation between worrying and stressing and the time holding the cup of water is such a great insight. The longer we hold on to our worries, the more it’ll hurt us. So when we let go, we’re relieved to have the pain go away. Even if it’ll hurt.

THIS is how I feel...
Also... I took 3 online tests and it says I have severe depression, lack of self esteem, and a social anxiety disorder... I don't know anymore... I cried 6 times today while no one noticed and I feel like I can't tell anyone... I don't know and there so much things in my head and I can't silence the thoughts of suicide and cutting... I DONT KNOW! Will anything be okay? Will I die from suicide? Will I start cutting? I don't know... I know I seem happy all the time but I've been crying inside since I got into elementary school... I've been suffering from thoughts for 4 years now and I don't know what to think or do or who to talk to... right now I'm crying to myself, on the ground, listening to Dear Even Hanson, and I want to kill myself and cut my wrist or legs or anything, and blame thorns or the cats... Letting go what disturb us not only makes us happy, but also heals our soul's. By not holding to any worries we give ourselves a chance to make our souls happy, and when our soul is happy everything around us also becomes happy. Everything is connected to us, connected to me.

The struggle
I am a SAHM of four boys, married for 7 yrs to a man that is an alcoholic not by choice as much as alcoholism runs through both sides of his parent’s families. I struggle with depression. I am close to becoming disabled in my leg due to my right side Sciatica after I gave birth to my four boys, I wasn’t suppose to have anymore after I had my second born due to my health. I used to have a big family on all sides of my family & his. I want to try and start doing meditation and life coaching sessions. Mainly I feel so alone, people would be nice to talk to.

Interesting Thought
I wonder if you could convert this thought into a worry management tactic in which every time you need to let go of worries, you imagine dropping a glass on the ground?

Any worry or negative thought the longer I hold on to it gets heavier and heavier. I will now apply this simple picture in my mind's eye to change my Glass of Water story.

The gift
I learned from my first story suggestion this morning that words can only hurt you or “negative gifts” brought to you can only hurt you if you receive them. I am going to focus on not recieving gifts that I do not want anymore, even if it’s from people I expect more from. I feel a bit lighter than I did yesterday and that is what I am grateful for today.

Relief
I actually really like this message, it’s so relatable I guess but in a good way, it helps to know that no matter how small the burden, the weight gets heavier overtime and that’s not good for you, it’s better just to try and get rid of that burden or relieve yourself of it, and finally be at peace with no worries in mind. Love this I’m so subscribing

The weight of worry
This story is very profound! Not long ago, I had a big change at work, and it was devastating. I did worry…about my future, my self worth, my ability to provide my share at home. I now have a job I love, but all that worrying threw me into a paralyzing depression and and endless loop, until I started to let go. That weight was truly too much to carry. But joy and weightlessness is on the other side!

Glass of water
Great analogy. I have a glass right now I've been trying to put down. I've been holding it for way too long. It's not the weight of the glass, but how long I hold it. That to me means it's not how complex or simple an issue is in your mind. It's how long it takes to let it go.
