Quiet your mind with this practice as you visualize a lovely stream alongside you. It may be helpful when your mind feels busy or emotions feel strong.

Leaf
It is okay for thoughts to come in when trying to focus, acknowledge them and allow them to float on by. Do not float down the stream with them.

Choosing
I love the analogy of staying with or letting go of thoughts and dropping them on a floating leaf and having it float down stream. Do we watch the leaf as it floats away, or refocus on the soft current in front of us? I will stay on shore, watch the stream and wait for the next leaf to float by. A lovely meditation. 🌷❤️

Let it go
You don't have to let a thought control or consume you. You can acknowledge that you had that thought but do not need to follow it

Watch your thoughts
Like leaves on a stream passing.... A calming metaphor. Helps to cultivate acceptance of our thoughts as well as the observer stance.

Thoughts on a leaf
I really liked the metaphor of watching your thoughts be a leaf flowing down a stream. It helps me not linger on my thoughts and let them settle on my brain. I feel more free.

While I couldn't visualize the stream very well the voice was very calming and I definitely need to work on letting thoughts, especially negative thoughts, go on without me.

Loved this meditation. I will try it myself when those unwanted thoughts overcrowd my anxious mind. I will just place them on a leaf and let the river carry them away. Thank you

First meditation
I noticed that unwillingly my own thoughts crept in. But I continued to place them on leaves and set them free. When I opened my eyes my mind felt calmer. This might be a good practice to consider!

Meditating through Sickness
Today I have a cold which has in turn affected much of my body. It was quite distracting while doing meditation, but I know relaxing my mind and my body will help me overcome it.

Healing
I’ve suffering from a cold that has gotten worse with a bad cough. The cough has given way to acute pain in my side. The pain is so sharp with each cough. Tonight I received medication from an ER doctor, combined with meditation and rest, I hope the pain subsides and allows me to heal, physically and mentally.

This Too Shall Pass
I’ve been struggling this month with the pressure of two thesis projects and with missing time at work and in class. On top of that, it’s rounding the anniversary of the death of two good friends. These small daily moments have been extremely helpful in keeping me focused on the importance of taking some time to just be me, rather than worrying about everything I need to do or dwelling on negative emotions, and have helped me to understand that it is ok to feel this way. Like the leaves, this too shall pass.

My mind was not peaceful
Definitely realize how I often followed the leaf instead of focusing on my present state, my body or breathing. I need to work on letting go of thoughts for a moment and being more present.

Let it go
I️ learned that it’s easier in the long run to let the thoughts I️ experience float down the river on a leaf than it is to take them identify with them and run with them. God give me the awareness and mindfulness today to not identify with these thoughts.

Day 4
I learned that we are in control of our thoughts. When we don’t want to think of something we just have to let it go, or as this practice said let it float away on the leaf in the river. I loved this practice because of how easy and simple it made it sound to let our negative thoughts go. We are in control of our mind and we have to remember that🦋

Thoughts
I never quite understood the concept of not feeding your thoughts or judging them. This imagery and visualization definitely helped me put it this concept into perspective. I need not focus on the leaf after it has floated past my awareness. I can simply let it flow away while my stream continues to flow and remain open to possibility:)

As I have written before, I struggle with keeping my mind from wandering during these meditations. This meditation was helpful in allowing me to visualize a calming place and to learn how to keep my mind focused. It’s all about acknowledging the thoughts that are arising and then letting them float away, like the leaf on the river.

Great Analogy
I’ve had a lot going on in my life. This year was stage for kidney cancer, Hurricane Harvey, my wife going into rehab, and finally, taking care of my mothers estate. I love the analogy of my thoughts going by like leaves in the stream the session provided it really puts perspective on the thoughts that are constantly flowing through my head and that I don’t need to pay attention to everyone of them!

Not focusing on other thoughts during meditation is more difficult that one thinks. It’s not wrong to have other thoughts, but one needs to return focus to the breath every single time our brain tries to pull us away...

Oh HOW I wish letting go of thoughts was as easy as sending them down stream. The times when my thoughts say I am worthless and when others treat me as though I am it is difficult to let that go. I know I am not worthless and I try my best to create a positive environment for myself. There are just those moments when I cannot come out of it.

Memory
When I imagined the stream I imagined a place where my family went to in CO while we were on vacation. It’s kinda my happy place I suppose. It was gorgeous weather and a gorgeous view. It didn’t quite have a stream but had a lake and that’s where the imagination comes in.

i know the dark is coming when i hear the beat in my chest. it becomes louder and i can feel it in every square inch of my body. i feel unsafe, i don’t know why this happens to me. the feeling stays for awhile and then the dark starts to fade away, the feeling gets shorter and the beat becomes quieter.

Thoughts float by
This meditation was great to do this morning. As soon as I woke up thoughts were going. This practice helped me let the thoughts come, but to not get attached to any story or feel the need to act because of any thought. Instead the thoughts floated on by, and I was able to relax and actually go back to sleep. I got a little extra sleep and felt better when I woke up again.😊

Sadness

Overthinking
I overthink quite often. It hurts me greatly and has for quite awhile now. As I was in the middle of this meditation, as mentioned “oh there’s a thought” I began to overthink. I placed it on the leaf and watched it go away. I noticed it to be harder to place a thought on the leaf and let it go than it was to watch the lone leaf float away. However, it was successful. Great meditation!

Listened to this track months ago. Today, my thoughts are more maelstrom-like. Swirling around me so I get caught up in them! Need change in my life! It’s not likely to happen the way I want anytime soon. Sick of just hanging on. Ready to move ahead. https://youtu.be/2zkjQVh5KmQ

Thoughts on a leaf
It’s so peaceful to sit by a stream and watch the water as it flows past, sending anything that floats along with it down stream. Having this meditation to remind us to allow our troublesome thoughts to float downstream on leafs floating in a peaceful stream always us to keep our calm with the mantra that this too shall pass when things are difficult.

Favorite
This is one of my favorite meditations. The idea of just letting thoughts float by without having to follow them is a great way to assist me with my anxiety. I’ve been struggling with cold symptoms vs anxiety this week and my thoughts have been all over the place. My rear infection is causing me to be off balance and dizzy and I keep telling myself it’s just my anxiety and not to let myself rest. This helped put things into perspective for me.

Drifting
I realize that a weightless leaf can carry many weightless thoughts and continue on the journey. a stream is gentle and caring a Protector of this leaf just as my breath is my calming protector as the inhaled air races thru my body to calm my inners and allow my brain to covet both actions of inhale and drop interruptions on the leaf and life continues

Let it stream
Breathe in, and breathe out anything that makes you sad; let it flow out through like a stream in the river. Sadness is part of life, but don’t let it linger for much longer than required. Breathe in, and breathe out; nothing lasts forever.
