The Strange Adventures of Little Maia

Andrew Lang's take on Thumbelina begins by describing a woman who is lonely. One day she went into the forest and met a witch who sold her a barley corn that was magical. The barleycorn transformed into a tall red tulip and then revealed a lovely inch-high girl named Maia who embarks on many adventures.
