The Judge and the Broken Wheel

Tonight’s story is about Judge Thomas Reed, a hard man who believes justice means consequences with no excuses. Then his carriage wheel breaks in the snow, and an old wheelwright teaches him something he never learned in court. A broken wheel has causes. Cold. Strain. Age. Hidden weakness in the grain. And sometimes people do, too. This is a philosophical story about justice, compassion, responsibility, and learning to see the causes beneath a person’s worst moment. Compassion does not mean pretending harm does not matter. It means refusing to reduce a whole human being to the worst thing they ever did.
