Hugging 🤗 is loving
I wanted to try this out although I wasn't feeling particularly anxious or unsettled. It's always good to give yourself some self-love and contact through hugging is one of the best ways I have found to feel close and connected to others so why not myself? It felt good and what surprised me was the release I felt about 2/3 of the way through. Like I said, it is always good to give yourself some love ❤️ You never know how much you need it!

I thought the "self hug" of the title was more metaphorical than physical, so this didn't really work for me- I dislike hugs and certainly holding myself that way. Thanks anyway.

Hugs heal
We all need a hug from time to time. Human touch is becoming a rarity. We crave touch and closeness. It’s important for us to give and receive touch. But we must know how to receive. A body knows when it’s receiving a touch from a body that wants to give and a body knows when it’s touching a body that wants to be touched. We need to be able to give and receive to ourselves.

A calming experience
Before I did this meditation I was extremely anxious. I had butterflies in my stomach, I couldn't concentrate on anything except how nervous and worries I felt. But after this 'self-hug' exercise, my breathing instantly slowed down and i felt more in control of my emotions and ready to face the day.

feelings and needs that I do. That others suffer from anxiety. I was-amused by the rather old fashioned word nervous. It describes much. Even though I didn’t have a good this meditation helped and I didn’t want it to stop. Now I’m wishing for advise but that isn’t what this site is all about and I feel we must respect that.

I heard somewhere that there are healthy benefits when you give or receive a hug for at least 20 seconds long. With this meditation, I realize that you can give yourself a hug and also feel benefits instead of waiting for or asking someone else for a hug.

I learned that sometimes a self hug can make you feel a lot better. I have always felt that holding something close to my body like a pillow or stuffed animal is comforting, and this meditation showed me a new way to comfort myself using just my arms.

Hugging yourself can act as an anchor in times when you feel anxiety or stress. I learned this technique in counseling as well. The idea of hugging yourself and being supported under the armpits emulates being held by your parents or caregivers, which is why it is so comforting physiologically.

i learned that to feel truly nurtured, you have to care for yourself starting from within. you have to begin by telling yourself that you will be okay. you will feel better. then you have to make small changes to help yourself feel happier. i also noticed that my bedroom walls make me feel confined. almost trapped. from this, i learned to get out. go outside. breathe fresh air. dont let yourself stay cooped up in your home. your body can not grow or heal this way.

Esta meditacion lo que provocó fue que reclrdara a cierta persona, pero más que eso, me recordó que estoy triste. Demasiado. Que no necesito un abrazo propio, que aunque por mas que lo intente, no es suficiente. No importa que no sea la peraona de mia recuerdos quien lo haga, el hecho es que no hay nadie quien me pueda abrazar así. This was the first meditation that I felt sort of neutral afterwards (and not as good as the other meditations). I think I don’t feel like I deserve a hug, let alone a hug from and for myself. Maybe I can just be mindful of this thought—just being in the present moment with it, and not judging it. I want to be able to decrease self-hate and increase self love.

Giving myself a hug felt kind of nice. It's not the same as getting a really good hug from a close friend or a lovef one but it is still kind of nice. I think I'll do this for a while longer and just enjoy the relaxing feeling because I woke up feeling slightly anxious this morning, not sure why. I'm not working today and everything in my life is fine for the most part. I think I'll do some yoga too.

This self-Hug meditation was so very helpful. Before this mediation I was anxious and I was in a negative state after a long work week.. this mediation truly helped me get my mind right and refocused.
