Defining...
This session does an exceptional job defining what meditation is and how to best go about doing it. Would have been great to hear as a beginner and was reassuring to hear as a novice. Maybe someday I will grow up to become an expert! Really liked the idea she mentions that ‘Thoughts have no power until we Choose to pay attention to them.’ We cannot stop a negative thought from coming in but simply choose to allow it to pass through and leave ... similar to the putting it on a leaf floating downstream technique. Several useful nuggets in this one & want to listen again to get them. Namaste 💚☮️🍀

This is a very powerful meditation! We all have thoughts that enter our mind. Learning that we have control over those thoughts is empowering. Thoughts are just that...thoughts. We are not defined by our thoughts. By training our mind, we can learn to embrace only positive thoughts and let go of any negative thoughts. Great for an over analyzer like myself
This is a great meditation to remind me to let thoughts come and go and this helps me to practice equanimity. I over think and obsess over some thoughts over and over when they enter my mind and this mediation is a great reminder that I have the power to let them go. ❤️

Negative thoughts are bound to occur and the outcome relies on the way I process the thoughts. I like how she mentioned that we are merely observers, acknowledging our thoughts. We have the power to choose to let the thoughts in or not. I feel better than before

Insecurity
I learned that within my insecurity, I need to learn how to cope with my feelings if I’m not able to accept myself for who I am. My insecurity is my sensitivity, I get very over emotional, I get sensitive quite fast and I cry so much for anything that I’m convinced hurts me. I have a bad habit of overthinking all the time and overwhelming myself to the point where I cry, sometimes crying helps me release my feelings but most of the times it makes me feel weak because of how frequent it is. It’s something I have been struggling with for as long as I can remember and I don’t really know how to manage it.

We can often feel powerless over our thoughts or even feel as though we are falling victim to persistent negative/obsessive thinking. In the end, it is accepting the thoughts and emotions that come to you- even the ones you don't like- that causes that cycle to stop. There is a difference between accepting a thought and giving a thought power to stay. The answer is to first accept it is there, and then to recognize that you have the power to let it go.

I learned that you don’t have to take any interest in certain thoughts. Kind of like they aren’t part of you but things that enter your head. It’s like having a conveyer belt and picking the things you actually want and leaving / disguarding the unwanted ones.

All along I thought that there was a way to prevent negative thoughts from entering your mind. That maybe meditation or practicing self-confidence can erase the thoughts. But I learned from this meditation that both negative and positive thoughts will always be in our minds. We just need to choose which thoughts to pay attention to. Like guests that arrive at a party, some are welcome, others are not. Some thoughts are positive ones that need to be paid attention to. Others are negative and should be disregarded. So instead of trying not to let in the negative thoughts, I will instead choose which ones to regard. And by disregarding the negative thoughts, I can live a happier and more carefree life.👍

I appreciate the introduction to this mediation, she takes the time to explain your goal and how to remain a neutral observer of your thoughts before actually beginning the meditation itself. Positivity / Rocks in a jar
I noticed it’s hard to stay focused on the breath and not the overwhelming to do list in my head. The negative emotions around that, feeling tired even before getting started. Then focusing on letting those thought go, at least for a minute. Training my brain to be an observer. I loved the story I listened to about the rocks in a jar last night. It made such sense. Your family, friends, and heath are the most important. That should fill your jar first. Then the pebbles are work, and other things of importance. Last is the sand. The small stuff. Only in that order can you fill a jar. Do it the opposite and it won’t get filled. You won’t be fulfilled.

This should be in the life lesson section. She talks about how thoughts are like a house guest that you can decide if you want to let them in or not. You have the choice to give those thoughts your attention. The last minute is when the meditation starts at least in the 3 minute version.

I liked that no thought has power unless we give it power. Staying positive is hard for me. I always think of what’s wrong or what could go wrong. Trying to stay present and remember that only the thoughts I follow will have power will help to keep my thoughts positive

There’s something about a thought that wants to be engaged with. It’s almost like wanting to play a game so much you don’t really care if you like the game or the people you’re playing with. There’s something awesome in engaging for the sake of engaging, but when it’s not filtered consciously, one can end up playing a lot of bad games. It’s awesome to engage with thoughts, but having the sensitivity to realize some aren’t helpful, and the mental muscle to act on what I perceive is important to be happier and more in control of my own life.

Non-Choosing...
“Choiceless Awareness” came to mind as I was practicing observing my thoughts but trying not to attach to any of them. When I did attach, I became aware and did her slick technique of going to my 3rd eye region and focusing on a cleansing breathe and it seemed to interrupt my attachment to the thought and brought me back to being the observer. Definitely need to develop this technique further as it seemed effective this morning. Thanks for this teaching! 💚👁🍀

I really enjoyed this session. My meditation is primarily while running, walking and biking. During this session my mind drew a great analogy to my biking sessions because my focus is strong and my awareness exceptional because there are so many safety issues on the road. Even though these safety issues surround you, you don’t follow them and embrace them but continue to navigate around them as though you are just an observer!

Thoughts are like an unexpected houseguest showing up at your front door. We can choose whether or not we want to welcome them in. By practicing being an observer with our meditation practice, we can become a neutral participant when thoughts arise choosing which ones we want to entertain. The more we decide to choose to entertain the positive thoughts, over time this will help the negative thoughts to become less. Sitting outside inhaling the fresh crisp air this morning, my focus is on the center in between my eyes. As I continue to focus on this area as well as my breathing, it gives me a grounded feeling. My intention for the day will be to practice being an observer to my thoughts. Any negative thoughts that enter my mind I will choose not to follow them by refocusing my attention on my breath as well as reciting a positive mantra.

We cannot control what thoughts enter our mind. Sometimes I have bad thoughts and wonder how I got there or where they come from. It’s nice to know that, that is okay. We can only control what thoughts we chose to give attention to. What we give focus to. Like a house guest who is uninvited; we can welcome them or not. You can follow your thoughts and invest wisely. What doors are you going to open? What are you going to let in? Don’t resist thoughts but don’t grasp on to them. Be a neutral observer. Be the observer rather then the thinker. The less you give negative thoughts your attention, the less they will appear. Give no participation to these. Let them pass without attention, without power. Let all thoughts enter, observe and follow nothing.
