Obadiah is considered a minor prophet, and many scholars think he was around for the fall of Jerusalem into the hands of the Babylonians around 587 BC. His vision connects this fall to the origins of Israelite history. Obadiah connects the brother’s storied past to the present-day unrest and can be broken into two main parts; God’s judgment against Edom and God’s promises for Judah.
