Legend Of Faust And Deals With The Devil

"Deals with the Devil" is a cultural motif that is best exemplified by the story of Faust, a fictional character based on a real person who lived in Germany in the early Sixteenth Century. In tonight's story, I tell you about several of these legends, and the real people who inspired them: Johann Faust, Theophilus, Pope Sylvester II, Icelandic hero Saemundr Sigfusson... As well as examples of witchcraft trials in which people were accused of such dealings with "dark forces", such as the Loundun Possessions of 1634 in France.
